I studied with Jerry at American University in Washington, D.C. His book is a great guide for the public relations novice to the season publicist. Jerry's writings and explanations are clear and concise not to mention timely. It is a book that should be on every public relations professionals book shelf for reference and review.

I read this book for a class; changed my major to public relations the day I read the last page. Read Geurilla PR Wired too; both books fed my love for the PR industry and gave me an idea that PR was just more than spin doctoring and covering up bad fish with too much sauce.

I rent this book on my Kindle this semester, but some pages are "not available due to copyright restrictions". Seriously? If there is a copyright issue, why would this book be able to rent on Kindle? It's not Google books that I read for free. I pay for it and still, some pages are not available?

Studying cases like the Tylenol crisis, Pepsi needle hoax and Got Milk? campaign are intriguing to anyone who has selected PR as a major. I read an earlier version of this book (2001) as required reading for my PR Cases course and thoroughly enjoyed it. Though the cases studied have changed over the years/ editions, the principles have remained the same. My interest in the industry was further ignited by studying real world application of the ROPE method through the excitement of actual PR cases. Hendrix covers most all key areas of public relations and gives case samples for each. I would recommend it for anyone planning to go into the field.

Interesting tales of PR. The last couple chapters is where the real information is in this book; read that first. The rest is supplemental.
