It's too bad that this item is out of stock or no longer being made. The detail on Sauron is amazing (I've read elsewhere that 16-point articulation was used), the chain mail is intricate and looks very metallic in appearance. It almost looks as if an artist made it. Sauron is also infinitely poseable. There's hardly a joint on him that doesn't move in any realistic direction: head, neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, legs, knees, ankles. His left hand bears the One Ring, and his fingers are removeable, as well as the ring. Use caution, because the ring is smaller than most insects and is easily lost, vaccuumed, or even swallowed (though it's SO small that no one would probably choke on it). Seeing this problem, four extra rings were included in the package. This was a good move, for I see myself losing at least one of the infinitesimal rings. Sauron's voice is booming - it's louder than you would think - and it's the voice from the movie. The phrases are great: "I see you!"; "You cannot hide!"; "There is no life in the void" and "Build me an army worthy of Mordor." When he speaks his eyes flash in sympathy with the spoken syllables. In a dark room he's downright creepy. Hopefully Sauron will not be gone for long. For fans of the movie (Tolkien never gave a description of Sauron in physical form, so the figure is based completely on the movie, not anything in the novel), this is the figure to own.

HOLY COW!!! I could not believe I found Sauron! After paying a hefty price for him and waiting for 4 months for him to show up, I finially took him out of his box, eager to see how my own miniature dark lord holds up as an action figure. I am pleased to report that Sauron is one of, if not, the BEST action figure I have ever seen.
This Sauron figure is incredible. The figure is ridiculously detailed. You can put a magnifying glass up to his armor and the swirling patterns are still greatly detailed. Everywhere, it goes on and on on how he is so detailed. He looks exactly like he does in the movie, right down to the ridges of his shoes, to the detailing on his mace. He has an easy time standing up, and the fact that his legs can move really well to pose is great too. His limbs can move around in a realistic manner, but his arms cannot go up too high (Due to the spikey shoulder pads)
Sauron comes with a few things. His mace is the biggest thing he comes with, and it easily fits in his hands, although mine came in slightly bent, and the edges of the spikes are slightly mushed, it dosent really affect it at all. His right hand has removable fingers that you can put the ring in. This is a great feature, and the fingers go on and off fairly easily. They also have an extra pack of one rings, which is great (Mostley because I lost the first ring within a day, those things are tiny!) He also comes with a cape, which is poked with holes to give it a "Used" look
Saurons crowning achievment is his voice. Using the latest technology, Sauron can say 4 fun phrases "I see you!" "Build me an army, worthy of Mordor" "You cannot hide" and "There is no life...in the void" His eyes also light up when he says his phrases. However, the voice is slightly off tone from the phrases from the movie, and the voice is really quite loud. It would be nice if he had a volume control button, but its still cool.
If you are going to buy only one figure from Lord of the Rings, make it Sauron. He is riddiculously detailed, he is great fun to play with, and he is really cool. Get yours before they all dissapear!
The good:
Its an 11 inch Sauron figure!
Astonishing details
really cool weapon
removeable fingers and the one rings are nice
Booming voice
Easy to pose
The not so good:
2 of the head spikes are slightly bent
the mace is slightly bent
the voice is a little too loud
legs can become loose (But only a little bit)
Summary: If you find him, GRAB THIS GUY!!!

This is a terrific action figure. When I first saw the movie back in December of '01, this was the figure I wanted. But I figured they'd never make him because, firstly, he's only in about a minute of the movie, and secondly, if they kept him in scale with everybody else, he'd be too large and way too detailed to manufacture efficiently and cheaply. Boy am I glad I was wrong. This is a wonderfully detailed sculpt of one of the coolest character designs in recent memory.
I do take some issue with the light-up eyes, however. I don't know what movie everyone else saw, but the Sauron I saw didn't have cheesy glowing eyes. (And neither did Treebeard, for that matter.) I would have been perfectly happy with this figure just talking.
I love the inclusion of a little bag full of extra One Rings, too. They're adorable. ToyBiz knows you're going to lose the one on his finger so it's nice that they give you a few extras. Thanks for thinking of us, ToyBiz. (Ironically, the original One Ring is still on my Sauron's finger ... it's the bag full of extras I lost the day I brought him home!)
My only hope is that ToyBiz considers making a Sauron for their 12" scale line! Wouldn't that be amazing? He'd be about two feet tall! Dare to dream!

This Sauron figure is just great, I can't say enough good things about it. The detail on his evil armor is superb, and the removable fingers with the Ring is an extra nice touch. He looks so menacing, I have him at one end of the shelf with his mace raised up, ready to swipe all the other figures off the shelf in one fell swoop. I only wish he were a little bit taller. He looks exactly like the Sauron you catch a glimpse of in the film, and the phrases he says sound accurate. My favorite is when he says "Build me an army worthy of Mordor". The other phrases he says are "There is no life in the Void", "You cannot hide", and "I see you". He is well-made and sturdy. If you have a collection of Middle Earth figures you can't go wrong adding this one.

The detail, the sound quality, and the movement all make this LoTR action figure one of my absolute favorites in the set. The only one that we have that might be better is the Cave Troll.
The reason I gave it 4 stars on durability is because of Sauron's ring hand. Basically, the fingers all come off so (like they were cut off) and the ring comes off. There's five additional rings included in the box, which tells you they expected your kids to lose them frequently. My problem wouldn't be with them losing the rings though, it would be with losing the fingers. My 5 year old has almost lost it twice the first week he's had it. My solution was to superglue the fingers on. Hated to do it, but I was getting tired of looking for the fingers...
Overall an incredible toy. My kids LOVE it!

Quite simply, the Sauron action figure is the coolest thing I have ever had the joy of pocessing. Not only are the detailing and painting out of this world, but the figure is well balanced and loaded with extras. His eyes glow, he says 4 different statements, and it's easy to change the batteries. The likeness is such that I am awed. If you enjoy LOTR, and you want to own just one figure, then this is the one. It's simply the most fantastic LOTR thing ever!

Sauron is just plain AWESOME!! His cloth cape is realisticly frayed, and hangs off him in a scary way. He comes with a replica of the "One Ring" on his finger(wich can be severed from his hand). He also comes with a set of Four replacement rings (as if they're expecting you to loose at least one). I took one of the replacement rings, and one of the plastic ties used to hold the figure into his box and made a necklace that I put around my FOTR Frodo's neck, to simulate the chain on which he wore it. But getting back to Sauron, this is an excellent figure with exquisite detail. One of the shining jewels of my LOTR figure collection. He is imposing and it is impressive to see him dwarfing all of the other LOTR 6" figures, he is only overshadowed by the deluxe Treebeard 14", and 10" Cave Troll, and Armored Troll. Sauron is just amazing, and the voice is loud, ominous and scary, saying authentic movie lines. I only gave him 5* in each of the above categories, because that is the maximum Amazon.com will allow. He easily earns 10 out of 5* for Fun, 7 out of 5* for Educational (for the authenticity of the armor, and he should excite younger viewers to get into the LOTR Trilogy by Tolkien), and he gets 9 out of 5* for durability since you can smack him around, beat him up, and he'll come back for more, and still look great. Sauron is one of, if not THE best LOTR movie Figure Toy Biz has released. Sauron should be the Gold Standard up to which all of toy Biz's figures should be held.

Not usually a fan of evil incarnate, I suprised myself by making this purchase. But, you can't have a LOTR collection without the Dark Lord Sauron himself. It didn't take long for him to become one of my favorites. He's nice and big so he does a great job of towering over the other characters. I had no problem getting him to stand on his own, a flaw that practically all the Hobbits have. The best part is, of course, the frightening voice that comes forth in 4 different lines from the first film. Its pretty loud, so that might be concern with parents, but it achieves the affect. It also comes with four extra One Rings, just in case you misplace the one on his hand. He's a lot of fun and I would absolutley call him one of the greatest figures created so far. Don't pass this one up, you'll regret it!

I felt let down when I first saw Sauron in the movie because you never "see" Sauron in the book. However, I thought he is an absolute 'must have' for the collection. When I recieved this action figure I was completely blown away by the detail and how much movement he has. The sound and light-up eyes are great too. For anyone that enjoys a very well made and awesome looking figure this one is definitely worth buying.

When I first heard that ToyBiz was making a Sauron Action Figure, I couldn't believe it. I first saw it here on Amazon, and since I was really very curious about it, I bought it. It is exquisite! A piece of Lord of the Ring memerobilia that should be part of every collector's display. Standing poised with his mace at ready, Sauron stands an impressive 10" tall. In scale with the other 6" figures, Sauron also has more detail than the others (Mainly one of the reasons why he's $19.99). His eyes flash red when he talks, which, although a little stupid looking, does add to his overall menace as an action figure. His cloak looks superb, but watch out- it's frayed, and will unravel. His mace is packed in such a way that it is bent, and it requires some bending back into it's original shape. One qualm I have with him is that his mace is held in the left hand, while in the movie he uses it with his right. I placed it in his right hand, and found, even with the detachable fingers and Ring, he holds it quite securely. Sauron is a must for any Lord of the Rings fan. I assure you, your money won't be wasted on him!
