When the manufacturer says "whisper quiet", they mean "whisper quiet if you've lost the upper half of your hearing". I bought this fan to use near my desk which has a rather-noisy computer already, however this fan is the loudest thing in the room. Even the "low" setting has a solid whine/hum, unfortunately. A personal fan needs to be quiet enough to not be distracting and annoying a full 8 feet away.

One other tricky bit: The base attaches and clicks in once insecurely, but then must be twisted and popped in (much more securely) a bit past the first position. If your fan is falling apart when you try to turn it, check that.

I am currently working in Afghanistan and ordered this fan to place on my bed. I like to have a cool breeze blowing on me at night. I was surprised that the fan was as big as it is. The clip was large enough to clip onto the side of a bunk bed and strong enough to stay in place with no slipping. It has 2 speeds, but running it on low is enough wind for me. It's good to know that it has a higher speed should I ever need it. I loaned it to my coworker for a night because the A/C went out in her tent and she said that it was a life saver. It kept her at a comfortable temperature in 90+ degree heat. My only complaint would have to be that it is a little noisy, but for the size of the fan and the amount of wind it puts out I think that it's understandable. I would much rather have a little more noise and more wind then to have a fan that didn't produce enough wind.

What a solid little fan! At 7 inches with a powerful clip base, this makes the perfect fan for a variety of locations.

The fan comes in two pieces: the top half with the blades, and the clip. The top half fits into the base and twists to lock into position. The fan itself can be rotated 360 degrees around, and the head moves 180 degrees up and down (basically you can point it straight at it's own base or straight away from the base). Every half inch or so, as you adjust it, you will hear a clicking noise; this is the fan snapping into it's new position. These locked in clicks are very useful for angling the fan in any direction and it retaining that position.

The fan itself is powerful for it's small size and I can still feel it from about 7 feet away. Granted at the greater distance it doesn't feel as strong, more like a gentle stirring of the air. (I'm using it as a desk fan, so I'm closer, but I wanted to test it out to be thorough with my review). The fan hums gently on the low setting and revs up slightly more on the higher setting, but it's a great office fan and the people around me don't seem bothered by it. I personally have no problems tuning it out as I work or think.

The clip is excellent and strong, and while made to grab things of at least a 1 inch diameter, I had no trouble setting it up to cling to a centimeter thin piece of metal, just had to rest the middle of the clip (the back of the clip's mouth) against the metal as well so it wouldn't slide off.

Overall the fan is well put togethor and solid. I think all the pieces (minus the wire frame) are some kind of rigid plastic that is surprisingly durable and hard-wearing. The wire frame is held down by solid plastic tabs and can be popped out to allow easy cleaning of the blades.

Very happy with this little fan!

I heat with wood. this fan has clip with holes on the clip for mounting at the top of a door to drown heat to other areas of my home. it is easy to clean. I t is perfect for my needs. I was unable to purchase a fan like this at the end of the summer season last year and REALLY needed it.

I bought this item three months ago, to sit behind my iMac for cooling purposes. Within the first week, the fan seemed to stall when ever it was started. I'd have to keep flicking the switch on and off to get it to work. Then, this week, the fan stopped working altogether. All the connections are fine - the motor burned out. If you buy this fan, be prepared to buy another one in a month or two.

Bought this fan (Optimus F-0702 7-Inch 2-Speed Personal Adjustable Clip-On Fan, White) to help increase air flow in my room at college and have been very pleased with its performance. It moves a lot of air for such a small diameter fan. The high and low settings work well to give the user enough control in the fan's output/

The only complain I could see some people having is the fan is slightly louder than I expected with a low to moderate "whirring" sound but some, like myself, do not mind or even prefer a fan's whirring sound so do not see any issues. Also the adjustability and rotating angle of the fan head is not as good as I'd hope for, I specifically remember that while using the fan I could not direct the air flow 90 degrees perpendicular from the mounting clip of the fan but it was closer to 75-80 degrees. This resulted in the fan blowing directly on my feet if mounted at the foot of my bed which was satisfactory but not ideal. The adjustments are also a bit notchy and the cam adjustment isn't as sensitive as I'd like but that may be personal preference.

I've purchased a handful of desk fans over the years. None of them come close to the power and volume of airflow that this little model has. If your prime criteria is coolness, this is the best desk fan you can get under $15, from my experience.

I bought the fans to clip onto my kid's beds at night. My kids love the fans. They don't get too hot when they sleep now. My kids fall asleep with the fans right next to their heads just fine. In fact I think the sound helps them fall asleep because they seem to fall asleep sooner now. The only issue I had with the fan is that it's hard to change the direction of the fan. It falls off of the base if you turn it left. If you want to turn it left you have to turn it right one full turn, if that makes sense. It doesn't bother me. Overall I'm very happy with the fan and it served its purpose.

has a cheap feel to it, expected for a $15 fan. first one shipped from amazon was cracked and wouldn't work. Amazon promptly shipped me a replacement at no charge to me. Works fine. A little loud whirring of motor and blade. Becuase it is just a 7 inch fan, at the speed the blades have to spin there will be quite some noise.

Small fan that clips on almost anything. Moves alot of air for its size. Does a great job. Not much difference in the 2 speeds though. As far as noise not the loudest but not super quiet either. It is quieter than most out there for the price though. Overall great fan no problems, recommend to all.
