Quite happy with this purchase. Not the most substantial stands around, but I'm using them to hold M-Audio AV40 computer monitors, which aren't very big, and these stands are the perfect fit for them. Easy to assemble and adjust. There are no dimensions for the base listed anywhere that I saw, but if you're worried about a tight fit on the floor, each side of the triangle measures just shy of 16".

3 stars because they weren't too expensive, but I definitely don't feel confident that these will not fall over when slightly bumped.

The top plates are a little too small for krk rokit 5s. They still fit but I never felt 100% safe about putting my brand new monitors 3 feet above the ground in that little plate. Also, I would recommend getting better screws for the top plates cause honestly the ones that come with the stands suck.

No assembly instructions were provided but it's a no-brainer. PRO's: Solid steel everything and well constructed. Column height adjustment is easy with the added safety of a steel locking pin. The column tightens up nicely. The speaker plate easily rotates which is convenient for getting to the back of the monitors or tweaking their direction. The foot print for the stand is small and the triangle base makes for easy positioning. CON's: (note: I have carpet) Once assembled, the stand seemed unsteady and the speakers susceptible to being knocked over. If you're positioning these stands in a protected area this may be a non-issue, but if there's just one person passing by the stand, it's an accident waiting to happen. The column is attached to the base with a wing-bolt which protrudes from the bottom of the base, so the base can't lay flat. The carpet pegs lift the base high enough to clear the protruding wing-bolt, but I replaced the wing-bolt with a beveled head bolt so the base could be laid flat if wanted. The top plate seating the monitor is secured well enough but it's too small and there's no way to secure the monitor to the plate. My Yamaha HS-80M speakers measure approximately 10" x 12" (25x30 cm) and the plates measure 6" x 6-1/2" (15x16.5 cm), which is approximately 1/2 the area of my speaker base. I used thick rubber pads with sticky tape on both sides of the rubber between the speaker and the plate, primarily for isolation, but they effectively help hold the speakers in place on the plate. The stand base has no weight to it and because there's no weight, the stand is not stable. My fix was to place a 25 lb. (11 kg) barbell weight in the center of the base and install the column thru the weight's hole. You have to use 2" barbell weights because the primary pole is larger than 1". If you have the smaller 1" weights, you can just lay them on the base and they'll work fine. The idea is to add weight to the base and I like the barbell weights because there's no way the weight can come off unless the stand is disassembled. I would not use less than 25 lb. per stand.

I've been using these for a couple months now and they are, as they are now configured, excellent stands, and I would definitely recommend them. I'm giving 4 stars because I think adding weight to the base should have been advised, the optional base bolt for those not wanting to use carpet pegs should have been provided, for not providing a pad for the monitor base, and for not providing a way to secure the monitors to the base.

These stands are pretty sturdy. Really easy to put together even though they came with no instructions.

They are easily adjustable and easily turn for getting that sweet spot locked on right where you want it
I recommend that you put the carpet spikes on using a wrench because they catch the holes easier.

The plates for the monitors are a little small, and if you have speakers that are bigger than 6" you will have some issues. I have KRK rokit 6's and they are right on the threshold of what these speaker stands can handle.

Also make sure you add some weight to the base of the stands. A 5lb barbell weight should do.

Other than that these are some good stands for your home studio and you should be happy with them.

Great product. Arrived ontime. No instructions but easy to figure out. Don't be afraid to screw the top plate down real good - should not wiggle. The black washer goes to the butterfly screw. Assemble washer to butterfly screw before you screw into base. Only enough rubber sticky pads for one top plate. Emailed the seller to send more and never heard back. Found round rubber sticky pads at truvalue for $3.00 so not a big deal. Sticky pads I had to buy come only in beige, not black but who cares because you can't see them anyways. I'm just excited I have very sturdy stands that are adjustable. My floor is slanted slightly and you can adjust stand to compensate. I'm only subtracting stars because I never heard back from seller re: missing sticky pads.

Hello there. I usually do not write reviews at all but I thought I would cover some views on this since studio stands are pretty important to producers.

1. These stands will hold 6" and below studio monitors. If you have KRK VST series or Yamaha HS80's DO NOT PURCHASE THESE! They will not fit at all. These are designed for small speakers. Optimally for 5" for the perfect fit.

2. Be careful when ordering from here. When I received my package. The screws were warped and I personally had to go out to LOWES to purchase new screws in order for me to secure the plate to the stand.

3. Base can be unstable. Make sure you secure all bolts on the bottom tightly and evenly or else you will have a very unbalanced shaky stand. (Carpet works best I also tested on tile)

4. If you are to spend a little more I would highly suggest the SMS6000 stands. They are much more stable but will cost you 40$ more. Worth the investment.

Cheers

I'm working my way into the business as many are. I do not have a great budget and I have a real job while I'm practicing and networking. I'm slowing obtaining gear for my own studio and using a small room at my mix room. These stands are fantastic so far, easily set up and holding my Yamaha NS10s just fine.

They do not hide wires, but a little tape runs them neatly down the pole. They are a bit shaky I admit, but unless you're mixing on a boat they hold up just fine. As far as vibration reduction, they are good, I don't have a professional enough ear to hear any minor details but they've never buzzed or rattled, even at high volumes.

Also as a post script, I finally decided on these stands because I am an intern at a rather well known professional music studio that uses these stands as their 'extra monitor' stands. So I figure if an engineer with a number 1 album under his belt makes these things work, they can't be horrible.

Easy setup, nice balance features and stable. I live in an old house in New Orleans so my floors are like roller coasters that rock the whole room when you walk through it. These stands have adjustable pegs to level them and hold my KRK ST6's without fear of falling as they sway to and fro when I walk by. Enough said
