I had been checking out several machines. This was a big purchase and I wanted to make sure that this machine was what I wanted for my embroidery needs. I did read all the reviews and searched the internet for information on the Brother PE770. Priced several machines and found the best price on this machine at Amazon.com.
The machine shipped and I got it a few days later took it out of the box checked out the instructions and started embroidering with in the hour. I truly love it and would recommend it to any one with out or with sewing experience. This is is now my second Brother machine. Good Company with good products.

Basically, I purchased the Brother PE770 without knowing ANYTHING about embroidery machines. I purchased the machine and the "Grand Slam Package", thinking that it had everything I needed in order to get started, from Mr Vac & Mrs Sew on Amazon. I absolutely LOVE the Brother PE770!!! I still haven't read the instruction book (As Mrs Sew will attest to, because I emailed her when my stitching was pulled too tightly to the back and only showed the bobbin thread on top. She replied very quickly, "...the bobbin is inserted counter-clockwise", and voila, problem solved!) The Brother PE770 uses hoops 5x7 and smaller, though it can use the larger, 3-stage hoop, for making multiple designs without re-hooping. The machine runs smoothly and without fault. There are many designs already on the machine, though I have downloaded additional designs from the CDs included in the Grand Slam package as well as from embroidery sites. I load these designs onto a flash-drive and the Brother PE770 reads the flash-drive easily. The threads offered by Mr. Vac & Mrs. Sew are all vibrant, beautiful colors. I have done a LOT of embroidery since purchasing the machine last month, and I still have not found a need to purchase additional colors. Gotta go... much more to embroider!!

I have had this machine since September 2012. I've been sewing for 50 years, many of those professionally, and have used many brands of sewing machines over the years. However, this is my first embroidery machine. Since I purchased it I've learned many things, too many to list in this review, but I feel compelled to address the few negative reviews. First and foremost , Mr. Vac and Mrs. Sew is a wonderful company to deal with. When I received my package, every thing was correct except I mistakenly received 2 - 5x7 hoops, 2 - 4x4 hoops and 1 - 5x12 hoop in addition to the sock and cap hoop. I immediately called to let them know and they said KEEP THEM!! During the first couple of months of use I called them numerous times when I had questions and their customer service was always top notch! Next, you MUST read the manual front to back before you really start to use the machine. I assumed because I had sewn for so long it would be the same....it is not! That being said, you will find things along the way that you won't find in the manual. The best thing you can do is utilize YouTube, there are tons of excellent videos on there that will address even the smallest issue you might encounter. Also there are many good groups and forums that you should join right away. There are 2 groups on Facebook (PE770 Machine Embroidery and Brother PE Embroidery) that will be a great help, there are many experienced people on there they have a wealth of knowledge.
What I see from reading the negative reviews is that there seems to be a lot of mis-information, people are not trying to find answers for themselves (beyond the manual) and this is doing a great disservice to an excellent starter embroidery machine. I have found through watching dozens of videos and reading hundreds of posts that the issues people experience are more than likely not the actual machine itself, but not trying to find the right answer to their problem. I never knew, prior to purchasing the machine, that there are so many types of stabilizers, and each fabric must have the right kind. I assumed that because a roll was included that it would be used on everything. The thread that comes with this package is great, and I couldn't understand why a few of the colors kept shredding and giving me bird nests under the fabric. After some research I discovered that the dye in certain colors can affect how it sews. I now use a different kind of thread, but still go back to these often. I never knew that you shouldn't pull the thread from the top when changing thread, but cut it and pull from the bottom. Pulling from the top can do damage to the delicate pieces inside. I also learned from my "authorized Brother serviceman" that you should not attempt to adjust tension or oil it. These machines are so different than a regular sewing machine. There are so many thing I've learned and way to many to list, all I can say is this is an excellent machine but you MUST do the research as you go along. I've put 4 millions stitches on this machine since I purchased it, which to some is a lot and to others is hardly any! Some of those 4 million stitches have given me nightmares, most time because I wasn't doing something the right way. As with anything, I'm sure there are lemons out there, it is inevitable, but in my humble opinion, this is an excellent machine, Mr. Vac and Mrs. Sew is a wonderful company to deal with and the package is great!! By the way, I'm still using the original box of prewound bobbins.

I purchased this item for the grand slam bonus packages however the additional items are not worth the money the scissors are CHEAP! The additional hoop for socks is CHEAP the pins do not fit in the holes of the frame (Update) the Vendor contacted me and told me to use a hammer for those pins guess what that didn't work either! Basically you cannot squeeze a watermelon into a pin hole for a pea! The stabilizer is not very good either it shreds and causes lint into the machine causing additional problems. I will be tossing these items in the trash! The thread is also CHEAP and keeps shredding inside of the machine which makes it extra hard considering you are trying to embroider or applique! I will be tossing all of the thread out also! I have gone through my machine manual several times to try to figure out what has caused these problems and still have not found a solution to the situation. I am know reading many forums on different causes and hopefully then I will be able to resolve the issue since Brother cannot and they told me to use different thread. I must say my little 4x4 frame in the LB6800 is far better than this machine or package. I bought that one about 5 months ago and then purchased this one so I had a bigger hoop.. All I ended up with was bigger frustrations!
I will avoid this company in the future. I have not looked at the embroidery designs yet.. but so far everything else has been very disappointing in this package save the 300.00 and just get the machine itself. (Updated) I have looked over the extensive design patterns that came with this I have not tried to stitch any of them out yet though because I am too frustrated with the other problems I continue to have with this machine. The do look nice though.
The Vendor has contacted me twice asking me to DELETE my post and offered me $75.00 to do so! My frustrations with this machine and stress and aggravation over the crap that does not work is not worth $75.00 more like $750.00 if they stop selling in my opinion bad products they would not be making this offer. After that being said, how many other people took the money and deleted their issues that they were having with the machine!

I love this machine, user friendly and does a beautiful job. Like watching someone else do the work while you relax. I would recommend this machine to anyone.

I actually have two of these machines, one for Indiana and one for Florida. I use it nearly every month of the year. I have also taught my 13 year old granddaughter to use it, and she loves to come to Grandma's House and make things for her friends. I have owned first machine since March 2010. I do not live near any sewing shop, so I am self taught, and the learning curve is pretty long (12 months). I've even considered writing a workbook for those who will be self taught with all the little "secrets" that aren't so obvious. Read every blog and tip you can find before going off for repairs. It is probably something very simple that you can fix yourself for free. Keep Q tips handy to clean out the bobbin case and underneath. Buy lots of canned air or one of these Metro Vacuum ED500P DataVac 500-Watt, .75-HP Electric DusterMetro Vacuum ED500 DataVac 500-Watt 0.75-HP Electric Duster 120-Volt which is absolutely invaluable for saving trips for repairs. Keep a gross of sewing machine needles for instant replacement. When you are well along the learning curve buy speciality needles for metallic thread, denim, etc, etc. Buy high quality bobbin thread and embroidery thread. It will save you a lot of headaches.
Once you get off the learning curve you are going to love playing and making things with this machine.
The possibilities are nearly endless.
The machines have become nearly half the price since I bought my first one, so buy now. They are a bargin!!!!

I've been wanting an embroidery machine for a long time, so I decided to pick up this one after Christmas, and the delivery was extremely fast and got here a few days before the expected arrival date. I pulled it out of the box and was able to start embroidering right afterwards. The embroidery done by this machine is great quality and its fun to sit and watch it embroider. The automatic needle threader is AMAZING! and my only problem so far was with bobbin tension (got it fixed up fast though!) and the fact the the numbers don't get any bigger than 5 cm (i was trying to put a big 8 on the back of a racing jersey) but i suppose that can be fixed too, if I can find a number design instead of using the ones in the font. But all in all I'm LOVING IT and can't wait to get back to embroider some more stuff!
Also, the threads that come with this machine are so vibrant and beautiful! I plan on embroidering some Pokemon for a friend and I have most of the colors right here!!! The cap and sock hoop are going to come in useful also. The CD's have tons of great designs, even though most of them are kind of baby-ish (good for bibs and other little kid stuff though!) and the 100 white bobbins are going to ensure my happy embroidering for a long time to come!

I purchased this embroidery machine for my wife and after 3 frustrating weeks of trying, we finally have the machine working beautifully. We took the machine into a service center once (a 3 hour trip) and they completely solved our original problem which was an error caused by my wife and I.
The next problem of breaking needles and terrible looking embroidery patterns remained unsolved even after calling Brother Customer service three times. While they were polite, they did noting to help us - they simply were not familiar with the machine. It wasn't until we called the original seller to return the machine that we found out how to solve the problem.
My wife is now fully satisfied with the machine, not customer service.

I've owned this machine for a few months now. It was great at first, but now the thread breaks constantly. I bought this machine based on Amazon reviews, but had I done a little more research I would have found that this was a recurring problem for this machine. My mom also bought this same machine at the same time I did and is having the same issue with the thread breaking. This is extremely frustrating when trying to fulfill orders.
If I had it to do again, I would purchase a machine from a local dealer, and not online. Most dealers provide routine maintenance free of charge when you purchase a machine. Now I am stuck with a less than good machine and no support.

I love my Brother PE770 embroidery machine and have been very pleased with its performance. The machine is user friendly and gives professional results. Before using the machine I sat down and read the instruction manual from cover to cover to prevent user error problems. I use my machine for monograms, mostly, and they have stitched out just beautifully. (Note: be sure to purchase designs from reputable sources and use recommended threads.) I bought the Grand Slam package and feel it was a decent enough deal if you add everything up. I especially like the PolyStar thread and the nice box it came in, although I'm not sure I'll use the sock or the cap hoops very often...
Just a couple of tips for new users: 1) Read the manual from cover to cover and understand it well before using the machine; 2) Yes, you can use the white pre-wound bobbins with any color embroidery thread - it will not even show on top if the tension is properly adjusted (and you will likely need to adjust it as it is set to -0- by default by the manufacturer out of the box); 3) If you plan to do monogramming, you'll want to purchase some editing software; 5) Join a internet forum/group to learn about machine embroidery; 6) Educate yourself about stabilizers and which ones to use with different fabrics. Oh, and did I mention? Read the manual! : )
