I ordered this because i already own two but my rod selection has grown so had to buy more racks. The only difference from my old racks is,BERKLEY has improved the foam insert that holds the rods (softer but still firm enough to hold even the lightest rods)

The foam in these holders I thought would have been more heavy duty. They are difficult to get the rod in and then doesn't seem like it will last very long. I would not buy them again.

The plastic rack is actually really sturdy, but the Styrofoam holding can be a little loose. But overall this is worth the price, and compared to other rod racks this is a steal.

The styrofoam insert makes it impossible to get the rod handle in. So remove it. The rod handle fits perfectly without the insert. Add a securing strap to keep the rod handles from falling out. The video shows that I used a mini bungee cord after drilling small holes top and bottom of the rod holder in which to hook the bungee.

Leave the insert in the other holder. Spray with WD40 to make it easy to get the rod in.

Works fine after mods. I like the fact that the rods are widely spaced. No need to put some in one way and some the other, as on another rod holder I tried.

I give it a 3 star because i expected the foam to be of a better quality, as a matter of fact it is just black styrofoam. In time, it will chip off easily due to use. It could have been a better density sort of foam such as pu foam or memory foam that can retain their original shape for a long time.

The plastic casing although is lightweight, but once it tears, there s no way you can stick/glue/fix it back. A kitchen pole or broom holder is made of better plastic than this.

The foam in this product is of poor quality I would never recommend it. Me and my wife fish about 4-5 times a week and on the second week it started coming apart

The drawback to these cheaply made rod rack holders is that the foam grips the rod so tightly that I need to pull from both ends of the rod to get it out without risking damage to the rod. I can see the value of the tight gripping if the rod rack is attached to a ceiling or boat cabin and has to keep the rods from falling down. On a vertical surface though the drawbacks in needing to use two hands to retrieve a rod outweigh any benefits.

They hold the rods well and will accept most size rods. I like the fact that you can mount them to accept the size rods that you need.
