Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
In this video, I highlight the features of this Energizer Carabiner LED Area Tent Light. One minor correction: it emits *50* lumens, not 40 lumens.

I love the design, the functions, and the size. However, what frustrates me is it only stays on for 10 seconds? Is this a feature? or is it broken? It was brand new, and the batteries are brand new too. How is it of any use if it is on for only 10 seconds. I have to keep pressing the power button to turn it on every 10 seconds? I don't get it.

-- Updates --
I did some research before I post my review, but didn't find anything. But right after I submitted it. I read some of the 1 star review, and found out this is a "Try Me" mode, and can be disabled by pulling the batteries out for 10 seconds. After I did that, the light can stay on. My mistake. But they should have make it easier for us to recognize it.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
As a busy mom on-the-go, this multi-purpose flashlight has come in handy so many times. I clipped it onto my purse when I got it, and thought it would basically be used "for emergencies." Wow. It ended up being so useful for everyday situations, too. When one of the kids got a splinter at a football game, we needed its nice bright light to see well enough to get the pesky splinter out. Of course, it always comes in handy for finding the right key in the dark and unlocking the door. When the light on our garage door opener died, we used this light to maneuver the obstacles in the pitch-black garage. At that point I bought a second one to keep in the car with the First Aid kit.

We used it to find the dog when he takes too long to come in. I used it to quickly signal my husband when he was loaded up with popcorn and couldn't find our seat at the movies! Then, at that point, I decided to just bite the bullet and buy a few more: one to put in our "tornado shelter" area of the basement because where we live the power goes out frequently with bad storms. Candles are OK for adults, but obviously not safe with small kids around, so I bought one for each child (which they promptly "customized" with strips of different color duct tape, so we know whose is whose! When the storms start to get bad, each child gets their Energizer light out, and if the lights go out, they click theirs on. They like to clip it on the belt-loop so they have constant light around them the whole time.

By the way, we also use rechargeable batteries all the time. One of the chargers we use is this one: Rayovac Everyday-Use 4 Position AA/AAA Easy Charger with 2AA and 2AAA OPP Low Self Discharge NiMH batteries. It saves us a fortune in batteries, and we can use our Energizer Carabiner lights without worrying about chewing up batteries and cash.

UPDATE: September 27, 2012.
Absolutely LOVE these flashlights! It's been a year since I wrote the initial review, and they are holding up wonderfully, with STEADY use. I'm ordering more today, as I like to give them as gifts, and now I've put one next to every bed. Just a reminder, make sure you use the rechargeable batteries in them (takes 4 AAA batteries) to increase your savings. These buggers are so durable. Dropped numerous times, too. Just can't say enough about them. HIGHEST of recommendations. I only wish I'd found them years ago!

This light was purchased as a work light for my garage and house. It has already come in very handy on several occasions. I was looking for a light that I could hang up anywhere to illuminate my workspace without getting in the way. In total this light has 7 LEDs, three on both sides and one on the bottom. It has 3 settings - all on (bright), all on (dim), and bottom light only.

I would say that the only drawback on the light is that the carabineer is fairly small and I had to replace it with a larger one in order to latch it on to certain items. Overall, still a great work light.

Great quality tent light, small and light enough to take on a thru-hike, extremely bright, and what a great idea! So glad I purchased this tent light. I have no issues with the power button either - it turns on and off to the different settings with ease.

My wife wanted her own. So, light number two was ordered. I've used them together to get even better lighting.

Read the Product Features and Product Description above. The light does exactly what those say. I needed to remove the seat from a power-lift recliner. That requires working at ridiculous angles and the screws are in corners behind brackets. This light not only lit the whole area, but reached the exact spot I needed lit. With the use of a bungee cord, I was able to use the carabiner clip to keep the light in the right spot even as I had to move to work.

The multi-choice of lights and strength of light puts the user in control of intensity as well as direction of the light. Since neither of the lights gets daily use, I don't know about battery life, but I had over three hours of use on the original light while doing the chair seat project and the light didn't dim. I've used the same one for shorter periods since and no flicker.

This is a purchase I made because it looked neat and had potential for all sort of uses. It turned out to be more useful than I imagined.

We did buy this as a tent light, but this is a verstile well-made product with a lot of potential uses. The light output is pretty remarkable for such a small, compact product. This is achieved, of course, with the use of LEDs. You have 3 modes that you can operate in. Two of the modes use the LEDs on both sides, with a high setting and a low setting. This is great for a tent. Just hand on top, most tents come with something on top, ours did, and you get great illumination.

The other mode is at the end of the light, which you can see in the picture. You can grab the light during the night for a run to the bathroom. Unfortunately you need to cycle through the modes and the flashlight mode is the third one. So you probably want to stumble out of the tent, before lighting. You can also clip this on for hikes in case you get lost or go longer than expected. Finally what sealed the 5 stars was how rugged this is. It feels and looks like it could take multiple drops and abuse and keep working. Well designed and thought out, recommended.

this is good product, pretty versatile the light is good but a little bright if it is close to your face while your are working.

The main flaw is the switch, too easy to activate accidentally, then you end up with dead batteries it happened to me while it was in a small toiletry bag. Not really a deal breaker, but if unfortunately something you have to watch out for

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
Hanging this light in a tent overhead would work well because it's very bright, however, using it in hand has some limitations. Its best handheld use is as a flashlight although I'd find it a bit heavy to carry in a backpack compared to other options unless it's also to serve as an overhead light at a campsite. The three LED lights on each side offer two levels of brightness, but even the lesser setting is very bright and a bit blinding if not overhead or behind you. Because of that its use for me is limited. I'd hoped it would work as an auxiliary light source during a power out, but the only place I could put it in the house is hung from the arms of a ceiling fan because lower placements didn't work well. And from the fan, I couldn't get to it easily to turn it off.

Speaking of on/off, the button for this purpose is very hard to push. Ideally, because of its placement, you'd want to depress the button with the pad of your thumb as you hold it, but that doesn't work for me. I have to use the tip of a finger with a very short nail to provide enough pressure and that means two handed operation, which I find more awkward than I'd like. Pressing the button cycles the light from side light brightness level to flashlight too or flashlight alone and then off.

I like products that serve multiple purposes, even unlikely ones, but this seems to be more of a niche item, great for its intended purpose in a tent or like placement, but not so great for other possible uses such as walking after dark (there are lighter weight options) or power outs where a lantern does a better job.

Well you live, you learn. I bought a Coleman tent lantern Coleman MicroPacker Compact Battery Lantern that isn't half the light this Energizer is. I really am impressed by the double sided lights (2 settings) and the flashlight aspect of this product! Seems like I'm the only "non vine" member reviewing this purchase.
