It's a waste of time to order these.
on September 6, 2012
OK... it's a good jack, that gets almost always destroyed during delivery.
I ordered two. First one came in a torn package, which was way too thin and didn't have any protection at the ends, where the two mounting plates are. But at least the jack was fine. So there is hope.
The second one never came. After checking the order, I learned that UPS had refused to deliver because the item was marked as damaged in their system.
All is well, though, because Amazon replaced it with a new jack, which was delivered promptly... with a bent plate, which makes it useless. You don't jack up a roof with a damaged jack. Well, at least sane people don't, and I consider myself sane.
All is well, though, because Amazon replaced it promptly... with a damaged one. This one has the top plate missing completely and the bolts and the key were lost, too.
All is well, though, because Amazon is replacing this one promptly, too.
And I am going to keep sending these back until Amazon either gives up and suggest to give me my money back or until the person packaging these gets replaced by someone who can tell that a 25lbs, 4foot long metal tube with steel plates with sharp corners at both ends needs more packaging than what the Chinese company which makes these uses to pack them tightly in a shipping container.
Well, at least I still believe that people can learn... if the economic damage gets high enough to be noticed. I think it's worth to do the experiment and to find out when that happens.
