I bought two of these for some joist alignment. The height is just right for working with 8-9' ceilings. Atop a 4x6 and supporting another 4x4 or 4x6, the jack will be right in the middle of it's working range which is ideal. My jacks came with 2 pins each, and one 3/8"x8" turning rod - what the mfgr thought we would do with the latter is a curiosity to me - and just one of these for the pair of jacks. Seems a bit cheapish to me, but on the positive side the 3/8x8" rod is relatively worthless anyway :-). The previous ceiling jacks i've worked with either used 1/2" turning rods or a large adjustable open-end wrench, so i was initially concerned that the 3/8 rod would bend. Not the case. The acme threads are well cut and pre-lubricated and I've found that an 18" or 2ft 3/8" rod works just great for lifting heavy loads.

As some other reviewers have noted, the paint is not ready for prime time, but the outer coat of paint that comes off on your hands/clothes is easily removed. Good product. Recommended

OK... it's a good jack, that gets almost always destroyed during delivery.

I ordered two. First one came in a torn package, which was way too thin and didn't have any protection at the ends, where the two mounting plates are. But at least the jack was fine. So there is hope.

The second one never came. After checking the order, I learned that UPS had refused to deliver because the item was marked as damaged in their system.

All is well, though, because Amazon replaced it with a new jack, which was delivered promptly... with a bent plate, which makes it useless. You don't jack up a roof with a damaged jack. Well, at least sane people don't, and I consider myself sane.

All is well, though, because Amazon replaced it promptly... with a damaged one. This one has the top plate missing completely and the bolts and the key were lost, too.

All is well, though, because Amazon is replacing this one promptly, too.

And I am going to keep sending these back until Amazon either gives up and suggest to give me my money back or until the person packaging these gets replaced by someone who can tell that a 25lbs, 4foot long metal tube with steel plates with sharp corners at both ends needs more packaging than what the Chinese company which makes these uses to pack them tightly in a shipping container.

Well, at least I still believe that people can learn... if the economic damage gets high enough to be noticed. I think it's worth to do the experiment and to find out when that happens.

;-)

Excellent Quality!!!! I am going to purchase another one today! Solid!!! I did notice that the coating did come off here and there as the other reviews stated, but it really isn't a big deal this thing goes in your basement, and working on a house isn't a clean job. Simply wash the little that comes off on your hands with soap and water. NOT A BIG DEAL. EXCELLENT product.

I bought a similar jack at home depot, and it was really poor quality, so I returned it, then bought this one from Amazon for about $15 less, and I'm glad I did. This is a far superior product, the pieces fit really well, and the screw on the jack has finer threads, making it easier to use. Good product at a good price, two thumbs up.

The product exceeded my expectations. It was easy to install, easy to setup and did everything it was supposed to do.

One of my 3 posts had missing pins. I'll be returning it.

The jacks state on their label that their weight carrying capacity is 5600-8438 lbs, depending on the extension. The description for this item states 11,200 lbs weight carrying capacity.

I ordered two jacks, and received almost one and a half...half of one jack, one turning rod, and three pins are missing. I have contacted the manufacturer and Amazon (an Amazon rep told me that there's nothing they can do but have me return everything and they will ship new). What I did receive looks good - I will update this review when I hear from the manufacturer.

Jack looked good, but was missing parts (bolts). I sent it back and bought one at the hardware store as I needed it the next day.

Work fine and price was good.
Ad somewhat misleading as the working load
is only about 2/3 of the max. load advertised.

Not too fond of the pins between columns, would rather have
bolts that could never slip out. Obviously once loaded up they
will be secure with the notch of the pin.

Don't forget to build a "pyramid" of playwood underneath
the columns unless you want your concrete cracked -
Put quite a load on this one.

The description is wrong - label clearly marked CAUTION-Do Not Exceed The Recommended Load Capacity of 5.600lbs at max extension...11,200 is Ultimate Load Capacity whatever that means, failure is what i believe they are referring to.......... The description does not mention the working load range a single time...NOT COOL AMAZON
