Not a deep black like you're probably wanting!!
on April 29, 2013
We've had a duvet for three years that gets washed once a week, and it's the only duvet we use. It's cream with some lovely black designs at the foot of the duvet, so a black bed skirt is an obvious choice for our bed as it highlights this design. We had a basic cheap bed skirt before but had to replace it because our little dog likes to rub her body up and down the bed frame, which has left a permanent stripe up along the skirt despite several washings. So, I purchased this one, ignoring all the reviews saying that it wasn't black, thinking that "it would be fine." No, it's really not. I wish I'd spent more time looking around for one in real life instead of just finding one on Amazon.
The reason that I mentioned the washing frequency of my duvet is to highlight how obviously NOT black this bed skirt is! When the black part of the duvet is hanging down, which it always is when the bed is made every day, it's extremely apparent that this skirt is not a nice deep black, but a very faded "black." Which is just crazy considering how often the duvet has been washed and must have faded at least a little by now. I suppose the quality of the bed skirt fabric is so poor it couldn't hold enough dye to make it look truly black, I guess!
I will also say that I'm just a 20-something stay at home mom, trying to save money where I can, and keep a clean house. I'm not crazy picky about these things! But it shouldn't be so much to ask for a bed skirt that's nice and black when that's what you're looking for. A bed skirt sounds like such a minor thing, and I guess it is, but when you're trying to have a nice clean bedroom, a faded yet new bed skirt does not help.
I'll be looking around in the real world for a better one that I can afford.
