It's easy to poke fun at Taylor's less-than-spectacular live vocals, cheesy lyrics but as i watched a segment on her on 60 Minutes, her manager made a specacular point- If Taylor wasn't pretty, blond, young, and appealing to young girls and their moms, he lyrical compositions would be praised and looked at a higher level than she is. Instead, she was classified as a pop/country bubblegum singer with no depth.

When I first heard of Taylor Swift, my initial reaction was repulsion. I wasn't a country fan, and her association with the genre never really allowed me to give her a chance. Then, being forced to listen to her, as I have 4-10yo nieces, her catchy tunes actually had feeling, innocence, and truth to them. She describes her own music as being autobiographical; writing about famous ex boyfriends (Joe Jonas and John Mayer) and the tabloids who launch you into stardom, only to try to tear you down ("Mean"). This girl is level-headed, smart, and knows how to put on a production.

You can see what a hard worker she is. If you watched Taylor Swift: Journey To Fearless, you can see that she is involved in every aspect of her spectacle: Lighting, dancer auditions, staging, projection, video montages, etc. The Speak Now World Tour, which sold out venues almost instantly, was wonderful. I got a chance to see her in Los Angeles (Where she sold out 4 shows in a matter of minutes) and she even brought Justin Bieber onstage.

Although not having a specific theme unlike her last tour, She still played with the "fairy tale" illusion where it is clear that she is enjoy being what she is- a girly girl who loves sparkle and playing dress up.

I recommend this show to anyone who isn't caught up on searching "perfect live vocal" and just wants to sit back and have a blast (and wave their hands back and forth and shrieking like a little girl).

This DVD captures the magic of the Speak Now live convert experience perfectly. The image quality is superb. Colors are vibrant, and the details are crisp and well defined, despite the harsh lighting in the concert environment. The only minor complaint is that colors sometimes tend to favor yellow tones a bit more than ideal. But again, that's mostly attributed to the non optimal lighting conditions. The videography strikes a nice balance between intimate close ups of Taylor and her various bandmates and wide angle shots that really convey the grand scale of her concert stage and the production value. And that's the real value of this DVD. It gives you the kind of close up look at the concert you just can't get from the live thing, no matter how good your seats are. I was lucky enough to get 7th row seats when I attended her concert. While I was super close to the stage, my head barely rose above the floor of the stage. So the whole time I was craning my neck to maintain my view of the stage. At the concert I was so busy keeping my eye on Taylor, I paid almost no heed to her background dancers and other band members. Now I get a chance to go back and relive the experience and focus on the details that I missed the first time around. I particularly enjoyed being able to see the expression on her face while she say "Dear John".

The footage on the DVD is put together from multiple concerts. Taylor took the best of her performances for each song and stitched everything together seamlessly. You'd be hard pressed to know it's not from a single concert, if you weren't paying attention to the lyrics written on her arm, which varies from concert to concert. The audio mix on the DVD is also pretty close to perfect. The nonstop cheering of the crowd adds just the right amount of ambiance to really bring the concert experience home, without being overpowering, and muddying her vocals. Sadly, that cannot be said for the audio quality on the accompanying CD. For some of the songs on the CD, the crowd noise completely overshadows the singing, and makes her vocals sound dull. The worst offenders seems to be Sparks Fly and Mine, which is a shame, as those are two of my favorite tracks. Personally, I plan to rip the audio track off the DVD and make high bit rate MP3s out of them to solve this problem.

The other minor point to be aware of is that the CD doesn't contain every song that's on the DVD. Specifically, the following are missing:

1) Our Song
2) Fearless (under the tree)
3) You Belong With Me (under the tree)
4) FIfteen
5) Love Story

Despite these minor flaws, the overall experience is fantastic and absolutely enchanting. I recommend this to any taylor swift fan without reservation. From this DVD, it's easy to see why Taylor defines the voice of a generation.

First I want talk about the video, I have been watching concert videos for 30 years since I got my first VHS deck. Most of the time they are a disappointment. many times the producers spend way to much time showing the crowd. I watched a MJ concert where they crowd was on the screen more than MJ himself.
This is the best concert video that I have EVER seen! At times I felt like I was there, the last time I watched a concert like this was a ONJ concert done in the late 1980s. The crowd scenes where held to a bare minimum. Big Kudos to Taylor and her production team for bring the essence of the the concert to home viewers. The home viewers get to see things that the people at the concert didn't. After one of her songs the crowd response brought tears to Taylor's eyes, no one that was there could have seen this, but the camera in closeup caught this. This DVD redefines concert videos.

I been around for 66 years, so I have kind of seen it all, From Frank Sinatra "All I owe them is a good performance" when asked about the fans, the birth of Rock ,etc. Never have I seen an artist that relates to here audience the way that Taylor does she has redefined this relation ship.
I have never seen an artist leave the main stage and walk to the back of the venue, get on a small stage so the people at the back could she her closeup, but Taylor does just this.
The show is fantastic, timing is excellent, the stage production is stunning and exciting to watch and completely entertaining.
I first became interested in Taylor because of two grand daughters that were nuts over Miley C. I wanted someone that had a positive image, I found this in Taylor and bought her CDs and DVDs for the grand daughters. In the process I became a fan after watching some of here videos. I stared to play guitar at 13 and had more teardrops on my guitar than I would like to talk about.
If anyone is a Taylor fan the CD/DVD is a must! It is the perfect present for a Taylor fan!
There is a good reason why Taylor is where she is, she loves her fans and they love her back!

This woman never stops topping herself. She is such an exceptional artist. All her songs have such strong meanings and easily relatable topics. This year alone she has been named Entertainer of the Year for the second time, Billboard Woman of the Year for 2011, and Top Artist of 2011 by the American Music Awards. These awards just go to show how much her fans love her because of all her hard work and dedication. This album is a wonderful addition to any Taylor Swift's collection. This is a great subsitute for not being able to see the concert in person, as well as a great item to keep those memories for those who went. She never fails to amaze me. She is so perfect and the most deserving entertainer. I love Taylor Swift with all my heart, and this is just another great gift she's given to us fans. Talk about an early Christmas present <3

Just a note that the DVD (or Blu-Ray if you purchase it from the retailer offering that exclusive) is not subtitled or closed captioned.

On the bright side, I know all the songs anyway, but I would have liked to know the dialogue. It's basically the entire Speak Now show, which I enjoyed immensely.

Normally when you see an artist put out a DVD for a concert you assume it is for the money. One thing about Taylor is that she looks out for her fans. I have seen her twice with my two daughters. I was amazed the price of the tickets were resonable and even more impressed that I could get t-shirts, programs, etc. all at very fair prices. (same can not be said for the beer at the concert). She helps takes care of her fans again with not only a near 2 hour DVD but also a near 1 1/2 hour CD and all for just over $16. Both are amazing and a must for any Taylor fan. If you saw the concert you get to see parts you missed from whatever your seats were and if you didn't get to go you get the best seat in the house for $16. I saw this concert on the Nashville stop. Having seen her on the Fearless tour as well I had high expectations. This concert is her at her best in both visual and audio. If you are not a Taylor fan give it shot. My guess is you will not be disappointed.

I got to see one of the Speak Now concerts live back in June, and it was one of the best experiences of my entire life! I was so happy to finally receive this DVD/CD in the mail, and it was SOOOO worth the wait! This DVD/CD is great and is almost as good as actually sitting in an arena seeing it live. Taylor is a very talented young woman, and it's absolutely amazing the way she connects with the audience. This isn't an average concert where a girl is sitting on stage playing her guitar, this is a full on Broadway production! If you've ever seen Taylor Swift: Journey to Fearless, you'll know that Taylor is an extremely hard-working, talented, caring person, and the same is shown in this DVD. I really used to dislike Taylor, but I've been totally obsessed for the past couple years, and now I don't know where I'd be without her! Her music is so inspiring, and teens everywhere can easily relate to it. Her songs aren't just about love and boys, they are about real life experiences that many kids go through every day. This DVD/CD is definitely worth buying for yourself or for the Taylor fan in your life!:)

P.S. Ignore the bad reviews of this product, as they were written by people who don't even like Taylor and clearly had nothing else better to do with their time than sit here and make a bad review of this. If you or whoever you are buying this for is a Taylor fan, you'll love it!

Taylor Swift wrote all the lyrics and music, designed the sets, partnered on lighting and firework displays, pretty much did it all but probably you would never realize the genius (7 Grammys) as she started this tour when only 20 years old. Loves her fans.

Plays electric and acoustic guitars, banjo and piano. More of a show than a concert. Crowd into it during the entire 2 hours. Lots of sets and songs you may have never expected to see and hear from Taylor Swift. Some nicely done cover songs included. The video is well edited and flows smoothly.

The CD is well mastered and captures more backup voices and instruments in the mixes but keeping the crowd noise for effect.

Very entertaining watching a girl enjoying being a girl. No concerns about talent here.

As much as I enjoy this live video, I prefer Taylor Swift's studio recordings more. To put it simply, this recording has just too much screaming from the crowd. The screaming takes away from the impact of the music. You're watching an event instead of a musical concert. Her lyrics can be quite deep in her songs, but they become rather buried in the craziness of the fanatic fans. Taylor Swift has incredible talent, don't get me wrong - I'm a fan, but this concert footage is not so much about the music but the praising of Taylor Swift. Does she deserve all that praise? Sure, she's earned it, but Taylor Swift the musician/songwriter can be better appreciated with her studio recordings. That's one man's opinion and I thought I'd share it.

Taylor Swift's "Speak Now Tour" cd and dvd set is phenomenal. I first listened to her cd and was glad to hear the concert performances of the fan favorites and covers of other tunes. I also took the time to watch her concert showing which also turned out to be worthwhile. The following are musical tracks that stood out the most for me from both the cd and dvd: "Sparks Fly", "Better Than Revenge," "Fearless," "I'm Yours," "Hey Soul Sister," and "Drops of Jupiter". In addition, the selection of "Love Story" as the last concert song for the dvd showing was a great choice. Taylor Swift's "Speak Now Tour" cd/dvd combo is best for the many who like Taylor Swift's singing and/or open-minded in listening to country/country pop music.
