Bananarama fans have been waiting anxiously for new music from the duo of Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward since their last album, 'Viva', released in 2009. 'Now or Never' makes its debut just a week before Bananarama kick off their US tour in October celebrating their thirtieth anniversary and this couldn't be a better way to start the celebration! The title track is a powerful Pop/Dance ballad that is sure to be an equal hit on both radio and dance floors. A surprise cover of Maroon 5's, "Moves Like Mick Jagger", isn't bad, but it doesn't equal the cheeky fun of, "La La Love", this is what the 'Nanas are known for and what rocketed them to fame in the '80s and beyond. The only disappointment is that there isn't more, but this is sure to whet the appetite of any Pop fan. Cheers to the most successful girl group of all-time who show no signs of stopping!
What a fantastic little surprise just in time for their US tour starting Oct. 2nd at select Hard Rock venues!!!! "Now or Never" is a very feel good dancey track, with "La La Love" being so much fun! Staying true to their known style, this EP is AMAZING!!!!! This shows that "They've got it! Yeah, baby they've got it!".....
The only thing to regret about this release is that it's an EP. It definitely leaves you wanting for more. Overall, great collaboration by the girls and Ian Masterson. The leading track is quite good. But definitely the show-stopper here is "La La Love," in all its glory of the Bananarama legacy. Perfectly rounded-up catchy pop tune. I only wish this track would have also received an Extended Mix treatment, like "Now or Never" has. I was somehow scared and skeptical of listening to it when I saw the "Moves Like Jagger" title. But must admit this version is quite pretty good, too. It puts the song in a totally different and really good level; and the harmonics of Keren's and Sara's voices together sound shockingly good, specifically during the chorus, perpetuating the song's signature "Mooo-oooh-ooh-ooves" part to a choir-of-angels category. Definitely recommend this one.
Although, they never really left! I've been an ongoing fan since "Venus" in 1986, and I finally had the privilege of seeing Keren & Sara perform live at The Hard Rock Cafe in Boston in October. This was a major thrill for me. This EP released to promote the US Tour is great.........love every new song, and an amazing remake of "Move Like Jagger"! Bananarama is celebrating 30 years of making flawless Pop music and they deserve all the attention they're getting now. Where's the LOVE button?!!!
Such a great, innovative and totally cool band. They sang with Fun Boy Three...that is as cool as cool can be. I always considered them kind of ska or mod with a strong underground appeal but still very tangible to the masses. They remind me of being at the beach in So Cal. I know so many that have great memories listening to this band....skating rinks, school dances, surf/skate competitions, days at the beach with the ghetto blaster. I hope they realize this. I still have all their LP's. Really stoked to listen to their new stuff. What a treat to have them re-surface. I hope they continue to produce music and even throw in some old school style into their newer releases.
