Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

In this unique look at the vicissitudes of growing up, a big bash is planned for the town dwarf as she approaches her 18th birthday; PW called this "one more inimitable creation by the author of an unbroken list of winners." Ages 12-up.

Product Description

Finding the right mate is no small matter...

Little Little La Belle is the daughter of the wealthiest businessman in town. She is everything an heiress should be -- beautiful, independent, and perfect in every way. Except for one thing: she is only three feet, three inches tall. And now that she is about to turn eighteen, her parents are conspiring to get her married to the perfect young man. But Little Little has plans of her own.

With characters who play their cards close to the vest and closer to the ground, Little Little is a love story unlike any other.

4.0 out of 5 stars Similar and Regular and Like Everybody Else, August 8, 2005
On the surface, this is a book about being a dwarf, but, in reading it, it's clear that this is a book on two people struggling with conformity and normality. Our main character has a mother who judges people by how well they fit in. Reading non-inspirational books, being around people who aren't perfectly formed enough is "depressing".

It's a good take on the subject, really.

3.0 out of 5 stars Finally a realistic view of a young adult drawf., October 25, 1998
By A Customer
This book shows young adult drawfs as they are in real life: some slow, some clever, some honest, some con men. Humorous at times, but always down to earth. I enjoyed reading something about drawfs other than a medical report.
