5.0 out of 5 stars Book and video together - the perfect idea!, March 24, 2000
Prentice Hall is a trusted name in computer industry and I have already reviewed the A+ Certification Book and found it to be highly useful. This video course is even more impressive and in my opinion this may replace maybe formalized training courses.

The book is over 900 pages and it covers every aspect of the A+ Certification exam. It is an extensive and detailed accounting of what you will need in order to pass the exam. The book also includes a computer based training cd that makes a great addition to the book.

Along with the book is 2 VHS tapes that total over 3 hours of training. The first tape coincides with chapters 1 through 7, and tape 2 goes with chapters 8 through 18. So now you can watch the tape, review the book and with the interactive website, test your knowledge.

As with the A+ Certification book, a cd-rom containing questions and practice tests needs to be added. Also since the exam is changing to adaptive, the interactive website will need updating. While you can find other books on A+, you are going to be hard pressed to find a better value for the money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money, October 26, 2000
By
Douglas (Frederick, MD) - See all my reviews
I am in the process of discovering that I wasted over one hundred dollars on this book/video combination. After watching the first several video presentations it seems as if the Moultons were more interested in slapping together a quick package to make a little extra money. The video makes no attempt to CLEARLY show what is being discussed and brushes over things so quickly that it is absolutely worthless. The book doesn't do any better at presenting the material. So, I held out judgement until I visited the website which was touted as an inducement to purchase this set and I didn't find anything beyond what was to be found in the book. Who knows what the cd which was included is good for? It won't work with Windows 2000 which is what I have. If the cd is of any value, it can probably be purchased elsewhere since the Moultons didn't produce it. I plan to find something else that presents the material in an easier to understand format rather than something that skims over the material while trying to impress me with amateur humor. If I could have rated this as zero stars, I would have. Absolutely worthless.

1.0 out of 5 stars There are better choices, July 1, 2000

I purchased the course to help me pass the A+ exam. I thought that having a visual aid would help. The video is not very well done and seems to be mostly about showing how clever ( not! ) these two guys are. The book itself is all right but a better choice is the "Dummies" book or the "Exam Cram" series.
