This is a great book, but I would advise against this edition for your Kindle. After the first 10% there is an inexcusable amount of typos. It makes for a frustrating read of what would otherwise be a very engaging and beneficial work.

The book is great but the enormous number of typos in the Kindle edition makes it almost unreadable. i strongly recommend the book to anybody interested in the origins of psychoanalysis. However
, you should do yourself a favor and buy an alternative edition.

This is a fantastic, captivating book. The theories and ideas outlined in "Psychopathology of Everyday Life" are logical and seem more applicable, plausible, and realistic (i.e. more easily seen in everyday life) than some of Freud's other theories. Highly recommended for anyone interested in psychology, character, human behavior, or Freud's work. Covers a lot about human memory. A very good resource to have.

Do NOT buy this version of this book! It seems like some random person just sat down at their computer and copied the text -- but very poorly! there was certainly no copy editing done! There is no Library of Congress info inside, no publisher info, no translator listed, etc. I'm not even sure this is legal to sell! I certainly wish it hadn't been sold to me. I am trying to read a chapter on "Mistakes in Speech" & it is incredibly difficult to comprehend because there are so many mistakes in *writing* throughout every page! Constantly missing verbs, adjectives where there should be adverbs, etc. I would think it is someone making a joke of the chapter except I'm betting the entire book will be this way, sadly. There are closing quotation marks without any opening quotation marks, etc. I'm sure the Freud's original work is a "seminal text" and "a classic of twentieth century scientific literature" as the back cover says, but this version does it an extraordinary dishonor. Amazon: I am disappointed with and ashamed of you for selling me this book, and now that all of the "brick and mortar" stores are closing around us, I hope that you will not continue to sell what seem to be black market editions of books, or I will not have much hope for my future books!

Classic analysis of ordinary everyday speech misques which, like The Interpretation of Dreams, is a foundational work both for modern psychotherapeudic approaches, and a model for how to do solid work in academia, in the professions, in intellectual life.

Works here in "Everyday Psychopathology of Life" is very much rational construct. It examines human mistakes in words, spelling, utterances, forgetting names, places or things. I don't want to spoil your reading experience by summarizing the whole book for you, so I won't... Nevertheless, you must be prepared to be motivated, because the material is at times, a zzzz session, or dry for lack of the better word, yet the examples used in the text will give you ah ha moments to apply in your own life experiences. That's the genius of Freud... Well at least from my own perspective, Freud wants the reader to understand him in a deeper level (with his words, comes a sense of intimacy with his readers, by giving them a hands on, or front row seat into himself, or better yet, (his psyche), while simultaneously taking you on a journey into the mind subject matter with a guidance, and counsel... Rest depends on the student's commitment towards finishing the desire effect to meet the desired affect resolve... My words sound a little poetic, or a touch of conundrums coming to you from left to right? Welcome to Freudian worlds... He is waiting...

What can you say about Freud? - the father of psychotherapy with one of the best minds of the last century who manages to explain his ideas in such a clear and logical manner, supporting them with copious examples from his own life as well as that of others, that the book is as entertaining as it is informative.

The book ranges through such topics as slips of the tongue, misreading, losing things and through his painstaking analyses, he convinces us of the correctness of his assertion that really they are not errors at all, but the subconscious overriding our conscious thoughts.

The upshot, though, is that you will begin noticing the errors you make yourself and it is often only the work of a few moments to uncover the reasons you actually made these "mistakes". Just as revealing, you will not be able to help yourself from responding mentally to the errors made by your family and friends and this will provide you with insights into their real intentions and feelings, insights they may not even be aware of themselves.

A fascinating introduction to psychoanalysis which will open your mind ( and no, not everything is related back to sexual hangups, as detractors of Freud may make you believe ) .

"Yes, a woman must be pretty if she is to please the men. A man is much better off. As long as he has five straight limbs, he needs no more."

Freudian slips, the intentional forgetting of names, losing things on purpose. . . . A book that forces you to think. Should be on the required reading list of every college curriculum.

"Unwelcome, repressed, psychic material, which, though pushed away from consciousness, is nevertheless not robbed of all capacity to express itself."
