5.0 out of 5 stars A great "Guy-Gift" idea, December 2, 2008
By Lola Nola (Louisiana) - See all my reviews
This is a beautiful book full of great recipes - but it's much more. Lots of good info about beer I didn't know...including a special way to clean your beer glasses, what kinds of beer to serve with different foods and interesting history about New Orleans and beer. I love drinking Abita Beer and now I'll be cooking with it too.

I bought two more copies of this book for two guys on my list who are beer geeks. You can also buy Abita beer merchandise at their website Abita.com (glasses, cool t-shirts and stuff).

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great cookbook!, November 20, 2008
This is a wonderful gift for any beer lover or aspiring chef (add in a few Abita pint glasses or a 6-pack and you'll be adored forever), or a great addition to your own personal collection. While there are a few recipes in here that are quite laborious, all the recipes are easy to follow, and no ingredient is too "exotic" to find in your store or order ahead off the internet, (ie Alligator Legs, Andouille, Tasso. You can order those at cajun gocer, etc.)

It has beautiful photography, beer facts and brewing history, and the recipes...Can you say Turbodog Ice Cream? Or Abita Amber Pulled Pork? Seafood beignets, Pot Roast, Warm Potato Salad, Cheddar & Amber Soup, Greens, BBQ shrimp, Cochon de lait, Etouffee, Gumbo...and my favorite, Deep-Fried Beer Braised Short Ribs Po' Boy...All made with Abita Beer! These recipes are fun to make, and delicious to eat. Of course, you get to sample the beers as you make the dish, which is even better!
