One of my favorite reads of the summer. I fell in love with Pablo Casals! What an interesting life. He was not only a gifted musician, but he helped so many other people get a start and had such a wonderful, positive outlook that he maintained throughout his long and full life. An inspiration, to be sure.

This is one of my favorite books of all time. I knew nothing about Pablo Casals when I first read this book - it was recommended by a friend. I was blown away by what an amazing person he was .... and by what in interesting life he had led.

Pau Casals was the greatest. Franco caused the flight and/or early death of many Spanish intellectuals-- Machado, Picasso, Miguel Hernandez, Lorca. Casals always loved his homeland and this book brought this out.
