Peter Fogel's book, If Not Now... Then When?, is a book that fires on all cylinders. I'm an avid reader and I like to read personal development books and this little tome caught me a little by surprise. Since I'm not over 40, I thought that this book would not be for me. I was wrong. Plainly and simply, I was very wrong.

Mr. Fogel has a way of dovetailing the stories of real people who reinvented themselves with lessons we can all learn--no matter what age we are. While the tales do deal with reinvention, as in people massively changing the direction of their life, it's also about rekindling the dreamer within us and reaching for what could be and should be.

The best thing about this book is that it is not pedantic. Mr. Fogel does not approach the subject matter with that smuggish guru-ness that is so prevalent in personal development books. It's more like he's a guide and he's pointing at the peoples' stories and saying, "See? See? See what's possible? And you can do it, too!"

I learned a lot from this book and I am sure that many people will, too. I latched onto it because it shows what a little effort and planning and dreaming can bring into one's life. In a few words, it gives one hope. Plus, it also gives one the confidence to take that shot whether you are reinventing or just inventing in the first place.

Do you have days when your job or your life could be better? Days where you want to be working somewhere else, or doing something different? If that's the case, this book is for you. Peter Fogel has delivered a winner, a compilation of the stories of good people who happen to be over 40, who wanted something more - and got it. Mr. Fogel's way of telling those stories is extremely well articulated, from the heart, and interspersed with well timed humor. It is as if you are in the room listening to the people themselves, and Mr. Fogel's questions, when he sees the time to ask them, provide a true representation of people who are like all of us. They are inspirational, as is the way this book is written. They are people who did what it took, people who were not afraid to take a risk or try something new. They epitomize courage, something which more of us need.

The lessons learned here are profoundly well stated, while not being anything most of us haven't heard of or tried before. The difference is that Mr. Fogel, out of the millions of possibilities, picked the right people, used the right approach, then put the right words to paper to tell the stories. For someone who uses words to make his living, Mr. Fogel and this book takes them to a new level. Mr. Fogel should be commended for the book and it should be a must read for all of us. Well done sir and I genuinely hope you have more of the same to come. I, for one, will add any and all of them to my library. I am definitely over 40 and I'm doing it too; I'm making major change, and this book ratifies what I believe.
