Definitive Medieval Archery Book

This is a book for those who love traditional archery. Every aspect of medieval archery is covered, including a fascinating chapter on actual archery tournaments of the middle ages. It doesn't take long to realize that the author has done some serious research on this subject, and here it is, presented in a very interesting format. This book answers many questions which conventional or 'light' research would never reveal. Well done Erik Roth.

Solid reading for archery enthusiasts, not a modern research.

Bought it because it is new and has sections on crossbows. Not impressed -while facts provided by the book are mostly solid, they are now mostly common knowledge for re-enactors and researchers. Book feels like revised collection of ten or fifteen years old articles. Of course this exactly because enthusiast like Erik were creating this "common knowledge" all these years :)

It is good starting point for archery enthusiasts discovering history of bow. Clearly presented, fun to read - but still not a serious research. Price is steep but still it is better than hunting articles in old magazines.

Book came recommended from a Medieval blog, for those whom are interested in the old art of the longbow and archery. It satisfies that very well.

Very glad I picked this up, and given to the wife as a Christmas present, since she's interested in that practice, and loves all things from this period of time (she fell in love with The Tudors...)
