Product Description

It's an increasingly common issue today—couples spend their child-rearing years nurturing their children at the expense of their marriage! Couples tend to think, "After the kids are gone, we'll get to be a couple again." In many cases, by the time the kids are off to college, so much distance has crept in that couples hardly know each other. But this scenario can easily be avoided! Divorces can be prevented and arguments avoided when couples discover the importance—and the principle—of being couple-focused rather than child-focuses. In Childproofing Your Marriage, Dr. Debbie Cherry provides easy-to-follow directions to help couples avoid the pitfalls of growing apart. Learning to nurture your marriage while nurturing your children is a priceless skill that may just save your marriage!

5.0 out of 5 stars How Do You Protect Your Marriage from Hidden Dangers?, June 11, 2006
Remember when your child begins to crawl and move around the house? What active steps did you take to protect your child from the hidden dangers in the home? Plugs in the electric sockets and maybe some clasps on the kitchen cabinets? You took active steps to protect your child from these potential dangers.

Marriage and Family Psychologist and Counselor Dr. Debbie Cherry helps you take proactive steps to nurture and protect your marriage during the childbearing years in this well-written and practical book. She gives you the essential elements for marriage survival. As Dr. Gary D. Chapman writes in his foreword, "We must learn to "childproof" our marriages during those parenting years, or we will soon learn that marriage withers and dies. When the parental team breaks down and begins to disintegrate, the children become the biggest losers. They lose their family unit, which is where they build their sense of security. When children don't feel secure, their whole world seems to unravel. No amount of baseball, dance, piano lessons, or toys can make up for that kind of loss."

Take the practical ideas in Childproofing Your Marriage and easily apply them into your every day life. Dr. Cherry has the personal and practical experience to help your marriage. I highly recommend this book to anyone with children who are still at home.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome book, August 3, 2006
I heard about this book and Dr. Cherry on Focus on the Family. Her energy and passion for marriages convinced me I needed to get this book and read it. The book was such an easy read that I finished it in 1 night. I am married with kids and this book hits home. I have already started applying some of the practical exercises that she gives and they are making a difference!!
Thanks Dr. Cherry and I'll be buying more of your books.
