Editorial Reviews

Product Description
ILLEGAL ALIEN is the most reasoned analysis to date of the controversial issue of illegal immigration and its growing impact on the American economy and way of life. Mr. Contreras makes a historical comparison of immigration and a well-documented scrutiny of the vocal opinions of well-known anti-immigrant spoke-persons as well as those who seek unrestricted openness of our borders. "With impeccable logic, Raoul Lowery Contreras demolishes the drivel emanating from anti-immigration fanatics - the "knuckle-dragging element within the Republican Party," as he puts it. Yet he is clear-eyed enough to also take on the "professional plantationeers" of the radical Chicano movement and their liberal sponsors on America's campuses and at activist "minority" groups. A cry for common sense from the radical center, showing American Hispanics can - and must - punch to the left and to the right." Roger E. Hernández Nationally Syndicated Columnist

5.0 out of 5 stars In Search of a Middle Ground on Immigration Reform, March 28, 2005
By Paul Sheldon Foote (Irvine, CA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Much of The Illegal Alien focuses upon critical evaluations of: (1) Professor Samuel Huntington (The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order) (2) Professor Victor Davis Hanson (Mexifornia) (3) Congressman Tom Tancredo ("Tancredo for President" bumper stickers available from California Coalition for Immigration Reform [CCIR]) (4) Jon Dougherty (Illegals : The Imminent Threat Posed by Our Unsecured U.S.-Mexico Border).

While Lenin used "peace at any price" to rise to power in Russia, he realized that such "empty, hackneyed phrases" can be used easily by your opponents for their own purposes.

Tancredo and others have a lot of support for their positions. Most Americans do believe in some form of immigration control. Countries such as Communist China do permit or encourage their people to move to America in large numbers with the hope of changing America. Illegal alien voting can be documented. Failure to control immigration can have consequences in terms of terrorists entering America.

However, Contreras explained the other side of the issues about illegal aliens. For example, illegal aliens and green card holders have died in the Middle East fighting with the American military.

Tancredo, by contrast, is a "chicken hawk" who avoided service in Vietnam using methods explained in an article posted online: "Crazy for You" by Patricia Calhoun. Tancredo has been a leading supporter in Congress of the MEK (or MKO or Rajavi cult). This Marxist terrorist organization has been on the lists of terrorist organizations of the United States Department of State under the administrations of Presidents Bill Clinton and of George W. Bush. The MEK has murdered American military officers, Rockwell International employees, and large numbers of innocent persons in the Middle East. See: Ervand Abrahamian's The Iranian Mojahedin and Masoud Banisadr's Masoud. This Marxist cult required its members to divorce so that the leader could arrange wife swaps. MEK praise for Tancredo includes a full-page advertisement in the New York Times (January 15, 2003) and recognition at Maryam Rajavi's Web site after his efforts to free her from French arrest (June 2003). In 2002, President George W. Bush identified the MEK has one of three terrorist organizations supported by Saddam Hussein. In 2003, the American military invaded Iraq and killed many MEK terrorists at Camp Ashraf. Neoconservatives (or neo-Trotskyites) intervened. Now, the American military must protect these Marxist terrorists.

Clearly, Tancredo is unfit to serve as commander in chief. Those who support Tancredo for president have no right to call anyone else a traitor or a member of the treason lobby.

Contreras has attempted to define a middle ground in the immigration reform issue. It is time to study the ideas of those in the middle on this issue and to reject dangerous persons who seek to emulate Lenin by rising to political power on a single issue.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not representative of Latinos and immigration, March 12, 2005
This book is poorly written and shows no true insight to Latino immigrants in this country. The writer is anti-immigrant and anti-latino. Mr. Contreras has a reputation of being racist to Latinos.
