Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

This is a very good introduction to the Internet. If you're smart enough to get this book, you won't need another because you'll learn by doing.

So, authors of Internet books for beginners, let's learn a crucial lesson from Fred and Susan Klopfer.

<FLAME ON>

The most important thing about writing an Introduction to the Internet is not to kill as many trees as possible by writing doorstops that act as if the World Wide Web is the only service on the Internet and stuffing inner sleeves with gratuitous CD-ROMs containing software freely available from the Internet that simply end up being used as frisbees, coasters, or microwave experiments.

<FLAME OFF>

The most important thing, as the Klopfers prove they know in this book, is to write simple, friendly, useful, and concise overviews of the many kinds of Internet services so that the beginner can actually spend time exploring the Net rather than reading gratuitous filler text that exists only to occupy horizontal shelf space.

Again, this is a very good book, and if you're a newcomer to the Net, you seriously ought to consider buying it. We thank you, Fred (and Susan).

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Internet book I've ever read., February 16, 1996
By A Customer
Comprehensive and easy to understand. All Internet tools are explained in such a way that you really can use them, no matter if you're using a PC or a terminal. Fred writes in a friendly style using question and answer format. He gives lot of examples and places to visit on the Net. I'd particularly recommend this book for teachers, students, and everybody else who isn't a techie.
