5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the BEST allergy cookbook, May 29, 2004
By Pamela Ann Navid (Moorpark, California United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
My son will be 6 years old this summer. His severe milk/egg/nut allergies started when he was 4 mos old. Over the time I bought all of the available allergy cookbooks, and cooked some pretty strange things. I was desperate to make my son a birthday cake, and for years I had to excuse myself and give him either Jello (he hates) or try to make cakes from mixes and cakes made from other cookbooks. The results were always bad, and the look in my son's eyes made me cry. And then one day I found this book. I ordered it, but was not too excited, I did not expect too much. And then for his birthday I decided to make "Orange Chocolate Marble Layer Cake". The cake came out great, and when I was walking into the room full of guests with this beautiful cake with candles, my son was jumping high in the air and screaming: "Look this is my cake! This is MY birthday cake!" I was literally crying and thanking Linda for this wonderful moment. The cake tasted great, there was NONE left after the party! People with "normal" children were asking me for the recipe, could not believe that it was made with no eggs.
And from that moment I made almost all of the cakes, cookies, PANCAKES, CHOCOLATE MOUSSE and other dishes and all of them were a success in my house and with my guests. I bought extra copies of this cookbook and gave them as presents to my friends - that is what I think of this book. If you have a child with those allergies you simply must have it. And, finally, make him a real birthday cake!

5.0 out of 5 stars AH! Real food again!!, May 29, 2001
By "momof2allergickids" (Decatur, TX United States) - See all my reviews
I'm a mom of two kids with food allergies. Milk, Egg, and Nuts really only scratch the surface, but finding recipes for tasty meals without even these three is difficult. This cookbook has definently been worth the money I paid for it! There are some recipes that I won't be able to try due to the other allergies we are managing, but of the several that I have tried so far (and more planned!), ALL have been huge successes..including the two dishes I prepared for dinner tonight! Not only do the finished products taste, smell, and look wonderful, but most of the recipes require very little time in the kitchen. Since my children are both toddlers, this is a much welcomed bonus! My kids are the typical picky-eaters, as well, and they've begged for seconds and thirds of most everything I've cooked using this book. I find myself cooking out of this cookbook more and more. Every recipe I've tried has fueled my excitement about trying others found in this cookbook. I HIGHLY recommended this book for everyone, but especially those managing milk, egg, or nut allergies!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great!, December 17, 2002
By L. Smith (Maryland - United States) - See all my reviews

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My son (a 1 year old) was diagnosed with food allergies (Egg, Nut, Milk, Fish, ShellFish, Tree-Nut). This cookbook was then only one that I could find that addressed the harder of the three to avoid (milk, nut, and egg). With the help of this cookbook I can now prepare for my son most of his favorite foods! The pancake recipe was a indeed a lifesaver...I could not figure out how to prepare this much loved favorite without the egg and milk...this cookbook solved the problem and he LOVES them! The recipes are realistic and easy to follow. Highest Recommendations!
