Review

A fantastic spiritual narrative that is alive with hope and possibility. Sandy Nathan's journey will inspire you create your own spiritual practice. A highly recommended book for all spiritual seekers. -- USABookNews.com.

Sandy's book has got to be one of the most fun to read books about spirituality ever written. She takes the reader along on her adventures with a down to earth approach and style that keeps the reader in touch--with both reality and spirituality. Informative, entertaining, and enlightening. -- Natural Horse Magazine, Volume 8 Issue 5.

Stepping Off the Edge is beautifully written. It has many examples of Sandy's spirited events and the need for inner awareness. -- Adele Von Rust McCormick, Ph.D., Marlena Deborah McCormick, Ph.D. and Thomas McCormick, M.D. authors, Horses and the Mystical Path and Horse Sense and the Human Heart.

Sandy Nathan has not only captured the essence of the Gathering, but she has also scattered the seeds of its healing to others. Sandy, in Stepping off the Edge, sharing her flaws, her fears, her uncertainties, so that readers can connect, open up, and begin the healing process. I am both awed and humbled that the Gathering, with its tiny beginnings nearly a decade ago, now speaks to the hearts of so many hurting people through Bill Miller's words and, now, Sandy's book. Thank you, Sandy, for listening to that inner voice. Aho. -- Delilah F. O'Haynes, Ed.D, A founder of the Native American Ministries (NAM) of the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church.

WHEN YOUR INNER VOICE SPEAKS,DO YOU LISTEN?

STEPPING OFF THE EDGE: LEARNING & LIVING SPIRITUAL PRACTICE was written by Sandy Nathan, a Santa Ynez, California author and horsewoman.
Follow Sandy as she confronts issues that many of us face in the modern world. Got an on-line addiction? Trying to fit in rather than be who you are?
Join Sandy as she finds her roots and battles an eBay addiction--and wins.
Her story is uplifting, and inspiring. Sandy had always been aware of the voice of spirit, she just chose to ignore it some of the time. While struggling to find her spiritual path and manage her challenges, Sandy forgot to look at was in front of her: her life. Until things got too bad.
During an intense few years when almost everything happened, that inner voice that grew loud enough to drop kick her in the direction she needed to go. This voice yanked her out of self-defeating patterns and propelled her to the Gathering, a Native American spiritual retreat. It made her realize that her life was her spiritual path: Handling what was in front of her was what she needed to do to achieve her spiritual goals.
Now you can benefit from Sandy's experiences. This book is a combination of memoir and self-help that reads like a novel.
The author's adventures, awareness, and awakenings help us gain insight into what is possible in life.
The book contains an abundance of simple, fun, practical techniques to enhance our search for Self. This is a book that will leaves us knowing that we can hear the voice of Spirit every moment of every day. And it gives us some tangible things we can do to get to the place of trust.
Is it simple? Yes.
Is it easy? Not exactly.
It's a lot like stepping off the edge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely NOT a "How To" book, December 4, 2006
By G. B. Shepherd (Santa Ynez, CA USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Sandy Nathan leads the reader with wit and warmth into taking a look at life, in particular, their own life and just what is going on. More importantly, she helps the reader ask the important questions. Do I like my life? Do I like the way I am living? If the answer is 'yes,' be ready to sit back and enjoy an enlightening excursion to another level of living. If you unfortunately answer 'no,' be ready to learn specific ways to turn 'no' into 'yes', or, at least, 'maybe.' Ms. Nathan guides without preaching, leads without pushing, and does it all with a sense of humor as she shares her own life experiences.

I love this book. It appeared in my life at just the right time. Every person is at a different place on the spiritual growth chart. But no matter where you are, Sandy Nathan's book can help guide you to your next phase. Stepping Off The Edge: Living and Learning Spiritual Practice contains exercises to help you grow, along with stories from the author's own journey in finding her spiritual self. The book is written in an easy to read style, yet is full of wisdom and common sense. As I read, I felt that Sandy Nathan was a real friend who cared about helping me and who was honest and forgiving. In addition to her own insights about spiritual growth and finding one's way, Ms. Nathan has included in the book a list of valuable resources for continued study.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stepping Off the Edge by Sandy Nathan, February 11, 2009
Thank you, Sandy Nathan -- you have managed to get it across that journeying along the spiritual path is not something reserved for a select few; it is, rather, a description of the life of every human being. Stepping... mirrors my innermost thoughts and struggles, and the stirrings of my soul's awakening. The booked grabbed me right off in chapter 1, with the sidebar, "What do you really want?" - a question that gets to the foundation of all behavior and being.
I devoured your book; read most of it late into the night, and just finished the last few chapters last night. I loved it!! I was touch, inspired, expanded, and goaded into greater self commitment.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for writing this really wonderful book.
