Product Description

The 2008 presidential election was historic in that it reflected Americans' overwhelming call for change in the United States. Now, the millions of people who worked hard to elect Barack Obama are asking themselves, "What's next? How do we keep the momentum going?" 50 Ways You Can Help Obama Change America by Michael Huttner and Jason Salzman answers those questions.

From using public transportation, planting a garden, and making a YouTube video to joining the Peace Corps, testifying at a public hearing, and even running for local office, 50 Ways You Can Help Obama Change America offers concrete actions to inspire readers to get involved. The book also contains tips about how to use cell phones, text messaging, blogging, and social networking for change.

In his inauguration speech, President Obama said, "Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America." Americans who want to do what it takes see a progressive agenda succeed will find an invaluable resource guide in 50 Ways You Can Help Obama Change America.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just got it! Inspiring!, September 3, 2009
Truly inspiring and helpful for the young political activist in your family. It kept both my sons engaged and interested in doing more in their school and community. It talks about a lot of the complicated issues without dumbing everything down nor does it champion a particular cause or ideology. It simply aims to make the average American more involved in the political arena and in their community just like the President did in the suburbs of Chicago.

If you enjoyed "Audacity of Hope" or "Dreams of my Father" this is another must have. The President needs our help and after working as a volunteer in 2008, I know the average Joe really can make a HUGE impact and can help continue putting this country back on track.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid information for those wishing to create change, November 18, 2009
By Dragonfly (Southern New Jersey) - See all my reviews
I found this to be an easy to read, well laid out directory of options for those seeking to better America through volunteerism. I gave it 4 stars because I felt the inclusion of Obama's name in the title made it unnecessarily partisan, as evidenced by the mental midgets who did nothing but post fake "reviews" just to try and bring down the book's overall rating. If they'd bothered to actually READ it, they would have seen that there are options for everyone, regardless of political ideology. If you're interested in working the political side of things, there are links to both the Democratic AND Republican parties. If you want to honor our veterans, there are links to the VA, USO and other organizations that focus on them. If you are concerned about the state of education, you can find information on ways to mentor or tutor young people, etc. This book would have been better titled, "50 Ways You Can Help Change America" because that's what it is, regardless of who you'd like to see running the country. If you are someone who actually wants to take action and make things better instead of sitting around whining and expecting everyone else to fix things, this book is for you.

Or you can just write fake book reviews.

Directions on hvow to take action and quit just frustrated complaining.
