Product Description

When Sisko refuses the demon Beltrid's request to use his miracle-producing ring for selfish purposes, Sisko's world is turned upside down. Trapping Sisko's wife, Gabrielle, inside the "Crystal of Virtues," Beltrid sends Sisko and his two teenage children, Nathan and Kaylee, on a journey to find seven virtues that will free her. Simple? Not when a demon is involved. The trip takes several twists and turns leading to a showdown at the steam house where it all started. They discover that the reality of the ring transcends healing sicknesses-they discover a transforming reality.

5.0 out of 5 stars A feast for the soul!, April 6, 2009
Transforming Realities by R.L. Copple is a sequel to Infinite
Realities, a short collection of stories from the life of Sisko,
bearer of a healing ring. Book two begins some twenty years after
those events, and a rather more substantial volume. It helped me to
have read the first book before embarking on the second; however,
information from Sisko's earlier life is sprinkled through
Transforming Realities so any reader beginning at this point will
certainly not be confused.

The story opens with a supernatural encounter and the kidnapping of
Sisko's beloved Gabrielle. The evil demon holding her captive gives
Sisko and his two children a supposedly impossible task to complete in
order to free her - they must find seven people who embody seven
virtues, whilst travelling to Sisko's childhood home, the village with
the magic steam house. But the demon and his wizard lay multiple traps
in the path of the family fighting for their wife and mother.

Mysterious and wondrous occurences abound, filled with a sense of
wonder. I particularly enjoyed the visit to the sky-island and the
surprise appearaces by Joel the guardian at the most unexpected
moments. This is a story of a family fighting to be reunited; of
examining one's heart and listening to God; of being strong in Spirit
rather than in brawn. It's not all sugar-sweet, either - it's clear
that a calling from God is not to be taken lightly. Threads and clues
twirl in from all sides until they tie together beautifully in a most
fulfilling ending.

I enjoyed watching the Kaylee and Nathan grow and develop through the
challenges they face along the journey, the insurmountable odds
forcing them into adulthood. I almost felt Sisko's pride at the way
things turned out, so effervescent was his pleasure in what his
offspring had become.

It'll make you think, it'll make you question your motivations and
your spirituality, it'll shine a light on shadowy places long
forgotten. I'm not sure what to compare it with because I don't think
there's anything else like this in today's literary world.
