I have to agree with PR. This product shows promise, but the delivery isn't perfected yet. A few things to note:

1) There is no help system, either within the program or on-line. Clicking on the "?" yields a message that you should e-mail tech support. Not an efficient way to provide basic help.

2) There is also no user manual. There are some YouTube videos on-line, but they only provide superficial information.

3) Some people may be interested to know that after installation, you cannot uninstall the program using the Control Panel add/remove feature. You have to manually uninstall it, using a "4-step" procedure that they will e-mail to you (but which actually contains only 3 steps).

4) When using the Timeline feature, I get repeated error messages that shut down the program. I have e-mailed the details of this error message to technical support. The only response I got was "The only thing I can think of is to uninstall and reinstall the program." Which I did, and which did not solve the problem.

5) There is no detailed FAQ that presents information about using the program or solving specific problems.

6) I have found numerous places, particularly in captions for pictures, where the English grammar is faulty. It's almost as if they were written by someone for whom English isn't a first language.

7) There is no reference list: who were the contributors, who exactly did what, what are their qualifications. The bulk of the material is anonymous.

Having said all that, I have to admit that I like the program--I think it's a good idea and very appealing. It needs a lot of work and "fixing", but I'm willing to give them time and see what they can do with it. There have already been several updates since release, so I'm hopeful that those will start to solve existing problems relatively soon.

I was looking forward to this software, as many other people. I, unlike others, really did not have any issues with the installation process itself (besides the fact that it was very long...mainly due to the whopping 18gb this program takes of harddrive space). Upon starting up the program I noticed some lag, here and there. Now my laptop is running Win 7, 3gb of ram, and 1.8ghz intel core duo processor. Should be able to handle this fine. But, as I said, upon start up there was noticeable lag on my system resources. The program "stutters" and even crashed my whole system as I was using my mouse to navigate through the program and enlarge some of the pics. Overall, yes, the desktop looks nice at first glance. But once you enter it you notice that the delay between "frames" is very noticeable and, in my opinion, irritating. It is also very limited, as of right now, regarding resources. I hope they begin support and active updates soon.

Would I recommend it? Depends on what you're looking for. I regularly use Logos and Bibleworks (daily). Does it compare? Not even close (in terms of responsiveness and breadth/depth of resources). But the aim of this product is different. Whereas the other products are resource driven, this product (Glo Bible) is experience driven: its aim is for the reader to "see" and "hear" the text as well. I think if you are looking for an interesting resource to aid in your bible study teaching, then this may prove helpful (if you have access to an LCD projector). However, the pics and resources here are not one of a kind, you can find others of comparable or greater wealth on the web and through some of the aforementioned products.

Perhaps the Glo experience will grow as active support comes online. I hope so. As of now, this software looks very promising...but upon first experience, those looks have thus far been deceiving. Let's hope with updates and support that this soon changes.

And finally...18gbs!!! really!! That's larger than windows!

First, I have to say there is a lot to like about the Glo Bible. Its fun to sift through the scriptures and the zoom feature is great if you are looking for a story you know, but don't know exactly what chapter it is in. (The zoom takes you to headings). The pictures are awesome and rich, the detail on things like the temple are cool, and even the little movies are fun.

However, unless you are super-patient, and computer savy - you might want to wait until Glo Bible 2.0 or something. I had numerous problems (and a scan of Facebook's Glo Bible Fan Group would reveal many had technical problems).

1. Its HUGE and I had to install it twice because the first installation didn't finish. But - there is no uninstall so I had to go through manually and pull files out.

2. The second installation took 3 hours (and you can't do anything else on your computer while you run it - so keep a book handy).

3. Its glitchy - more than once I've had it suddenly "shut down" or clicked an article that said "This file is not available and the whole thing shut down". When I try to go to "Update" the entire software shuts off.

4. As mentioned before - there is no "help". When you click "help" it tells you to send the company and email. I did do that, and to their credit, got an email back in about 12 hours that simply said "Help and an instruction manual will be finished by Thanksgiving".

5. Not all that's promised. One of the main reasons I bought it was for the "reader tracking" which is supposed to have bible calendars, and track reading, etc. Once the download was done I discovered it is NOT in the software and won't be finished until "mid-November" -- THAT should be mentioned on the website.

6. The Journal promised and appeared to have a place where you can write your notes, thoughts, experiences etc. But it doesn't. Basically you can highlight a scripture and make a personal note (which is cool) which shows up in your journal, but you can't really write a journal entry.

So - its a product with huge potential to change how people use the bible. BUT - it was released WAY WAY WAY too early and needs to have some bugs worked out before its really ready to shine.
