I enjoyed this book very much and finished it quickly. I love the fact that more and more books are concentrating on women of this period. Elizabeth Woodville, Margaret Beaufort and Elizabeth of York were described here in great detail because they survived the Wars of the Roses and founded a new dynasty. Well-researched and enjoyable book.

It was a great experience to read this book while watching "The White Queen". Every time I had questions, I opened this gem of a book and learned a lot. In the show, Elizabeth Woodville is depicted as a witch who uses her magical abilities to her advantage and is related to a water goddess Melusina; author of this book points out that charges of witchcraft were attached to Elizabeth's name but she was not related to the mythical Melusina. I loved this book! I would definitely recommend to people who watched "The White Queen" and want to learn more.

This book was a guide to help me understand the reasoning of these three powerful women. I have read so many romance novels about these three, and always had a difficult time keeping them straight in my mind. This was like a "War of the Roses for Dummies" book. It is fast and easy to read.

I'm both an avid lover of history and have a keen interest in women's history. As such this book was extraordinary and entirely relevant to my interests. "The Women of the Wars of the Roses" was wonderfully written, exquisitely detailed and endlessly fascinating. Moreover, you could easily tell that the author, Alicia Carter, knew her stuff - the research and knowledge she brought to this book just poured out of it in waves. As a woman I think it's important that this book be seen, to showcase the three distinct personalities of women who had an impact on history during a time when woman were a commodity at best and subjugated at worst. A must read, I can't recommend it enough!

Speculative information based upon review of present-day works of others. No primary research. Wish there had been better disclosure of what I was buying - or, if there were other reviews, wish I'd read them.

For the general reader like myself with an interest in history, this is an excellent book. It is well written and easy to follow. Overall very good as a starting point for understanding this period.

I was extremely disappointed by this book. It reads like a high school student's history paper. There is no original thought -- it is simply a regurgitation of secondary (or tertiary sources) written in a simplistic style. I was so disgusted with myself for actually spending money on this book that I threw it in the recycling bin (rather than donate it to the library). Give it a pass.

I chose this book as a companion to the tv series White Queen, Red Queen & the Kingmakers Daughter. Movies move quickly through history and often leave confusion. This book gives information in a clear, crisp manner that made the movie relevant and the history of that period more interesting than ever. Frankly, with this book as my aid, I have delved back another 1000 years into the history of the England, Ireland, Scotland, Denmark, Normandy, Norway, Saxony, France. Who were these 'cousins', how did they come to be there? What was the differences between Saxons and the Normans was only the first of so many questions that arose. How the English came to be - wars, marriages, wars, revenges, wars, long boats, crags, poetry, more wars, marriages, and on it goes. Yes, I recommend this book to every reading human.
