Product Description

This book will take you on a trip down memory lane. Remember those cards your mother saved when you were born? Collecting Vintage Childrens Greeting Cards begins with those first baby cards and takes you from first birthdays to the teenage years. There are chapters on Christmas with Santa, Frosty, and Rudolph. Youll find cartoon characters, cowboys & Indians, dogs, cats, wild animals, and fairy tale and nursery rhyme cards, including boxed sets. There are cards by artists Charlot Byj, Marjorie Cooper, Angela, Mabel Lucie Attwell, and others. The book covers cards from the 1930s through the 1960s, with the main focus on the 40s and 50s. Included for each card is information on size, date, series, name of card, and current collector value. There are tips on where to find cards, what to look for, and how to care for your collection.

It's not that this is an unattractive book - if you like old greeting cards the photos are nicely done but really that's all. Anyone with much of a collection could have come up with a similar set of cards and virtually all of them are very similarly valued. It was really a case of "here are some pretty cards - you probably have lots like these - they're pretty much worth the same thing whatever you have..."

5.0 out of 5 stars An Absolutely Lovely Book, May 24, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this book after I accidentally threw
away the last valentine card my late father gave
me in 1967,I was absolutely heartbroken.Since I
would probably never be able to ever find that
card ever again I decided to purchase this
book as the same artist who designed my old card
was featured in it.It truly is a lovely book, the
artists really took great care in designing greeting
cards back then (1930s-60s), which you can't say for
the cards of today. :(
