Product Description

'101' covers the basic Principles of Economics in terms that even the most mediocre of students will be able to grasp. It then extrapolates these basic values into the convoluted landscape the politicians and businessmen have gotten us into.

Economics always sounds confusing and even daunting to the point of terrifying if you listen to the newscasters. It doesn't have to be and nothing will make it clearer than the guidelines presented in this book.

STOP IN THE NAME OF LOGIC!
Before you make another decision that deals with your life or business, read '101!' You will learn how to deal effectively with:

  • choosing a career
  • buying a home
  • using your credit cards
  • planning for retirement
  • training you kids in how to deal with money

All decisions have an effect today and years down the road. Most political mistakes are made because they don't grasp the long term effect. Reading this book will make you wiser in every facet of your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars It is full of time tested honest ideas that work in the real world. If it did not have them, I would not be writing this review., August 22, 2009
By Josh Clayton "Clayton" (Inglewood, CA, USA) - See all my reviews
Well, most economic books, you read once, "you got em'", most preople who read economic and financial books know how it is. But Laura's book is one of those so honest and working that it deserves a second, even third look because it talks about that thing most of them avoid or use "a little bit" as a "hook" like your Suze Ormans' and Jonathan Pond types. Well, I will tell you in one word what her book is fully grounded in and does not just use as a hook or a momentary catcher: Reality. Now to finish this review. The powerful thing about Laura's writing is her ability to simplify and ground things in reality. I "know", reality is a dirty word nowadays with all the "reality shows" and crap about "reality" in quotes. But I will take the rest of this review to explain what I mean by reality quite simply: It is what we live in, work in, think in and do everything in and not some vague, "funny" concept that does not work even on television. Reality by that definition works only if you work it, and that is what it comes down to. Through her essays you feel that, she objectively shows that, and how it works. Reality is not just a hook for her, it is what life is and how life is. That is what she is really selling in this book. I end this review here, be aware and informed and life will be fair to you.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is for anyone who uses money, November 19, 2009
In her book, "101 Things You Didn't Learn In Harvard Business School", Laura Bell takes complicated subjects and breaks them down in an easy to understand way for those of use who didn't attend Harvard Business School.
I had the opportunity to interview Laura on Page[...]. It is obvious that Laura has extensive knowledge about her subject, and is able to talk about each one with limitless enthusiasm.
Laura also offers even more information on her website [...] Anyone who has a job and uses money - and who doesn't - would benefit from this book and the information Laura provides on her website.
    I highly recommend this book!
