Product Description

Does this sound familiar?
A fluttering of butterflies comes when someone you spoke to for ten minutes at a party decides to call you two days later. You wonder if he'll look as good to you sober. You plan the wardrobe, spend more time at the gym. You buy a new shade of lipstick.

Finally, the big night is upon you. You go to the mirror to touch up your makeup and your prince arrives. You know this not because he has rung your doorbell, but because you hear the honking of his car outside. You look out the window and hear a voice: "It's nickel beer night at Hooter's. Let's party, baby!"

If so, you need the solace and comfort Joanne Kimes, a well-known expert on complaining, provides in Dating Sucks, such as:

  • The Directory of Duds
  • The Hell You Endure to Get a Free Meal
  • The Sexual Revulsion
  • Why Go Out When There's So Much Good on TV?
Dating Sucks is the indispensable resource you need to keep your dignity and sanity intact even as the hellfire of dating threatens to singe off your mascara. No matter how weary you are, its hilarity will carry you through-until the angels send Mr. Right!

2.0 out of 5 stars Dating Sucks, and so does most of this book., August 20, 2008
Let me preface by stating I'm a male writer who read this book and a slew of others for an article on self-help dating books. The author says in the introduction that this book is not intended to help a woman find a boyfriend or get married. This book is a good book for a woman who is currently frustrated with dating and needs reassurance that there isn't anything wrong with her, but that all men are commitment phobic and selfish. This book like most self-help dating books should simply be taken with a grain of salt. Out of all the dating books out there for women this one isn't horrible it's just dull and generic at best. There really wasn't anything unique, witty or profound to be found in this book. I got the sense that the book was written for suburban women in the midwest. I'm not saying that in a bad way, but this book comes across as censored, sedate, unstylish and certainly not written for a city sophisticate. When reading this book remember, the author is not a psychologist or relationship expert of any kind, but neither does she pretend to be. This is the same woman who wrote books called, " Grammar Sucks" and " Pregnancy Sucks" She is a writer like any other who is writing her two cents worth on a topic she knows a little something about. My biggest problem with her book is that it isn't savvy and her stories are boring. I hope her real-life marriage is more interesting than her single life was.

1.0 out of 5 stars This book sucks, October 28, 2007

Another in an unending series of books bashing men, putting them into cute little categories such as "Mr. Cheapo" and "The Older Man". Too bad the author cannot even write, and that the publisher did not see fit to have it properly edited. For instance, the author writes 'throws of passion" when this is actually 'throes of passion". How are we supposed to take this book seriously? It's just a piece of garbage.

Also, the book is full of nonsense. She clearly have no idea what to say about men, so she simply bashes them. Her book is filled with such profound 'insights' as "men are stupid".

I'm sick of this kind of women. She's uneducated and tries to come off as if she knows something. She doesn't. This book is trash.
