I respect Daryl Brown for writing this no holds barred bio on his father. Lately, I have gotten a whole of his books,the one his daughter Yamma wrote, this one,as well as the two that Mr Brown wrote himself, and they all have a similar vein about the man. And big kudos to him for doing it. I would love to read one about his mother, who sang with him in the early 60s.

I appreciated additional insight, both the flattering & unflattering, into the complex man who was James Brown. Each person within this book gave their own flavor & perspective, which created a broader picture of the man who influenced so many. As so many of us do, he got some things right...& others not.

The writing style is disjointed, confusing, mixed up and hard to follow. The story lines seemed to Contradict itself, saids one thing, then the complete opposite. Putting all that aside, relatively good information.
