5.0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL BOOK!!!, April 3, 2006
By Cindy Powell (Colorado Springs, CO) - See all my reviews
I highly recommend this terrific book, written primarily for human services professionals who supervise direct service staff. The text and exercises share strategies for creating a supportive and positive work environment where supervisors experience little stress, staff morale is high and turnover is low.
Writer and expert Linda LaPointe emphasizes that staff feel valued and appreciated when recognized for their individual strengths and a job well done. Ideal supervisors are organized, share information with staff, value their opinion and welcome their input. The result is a cohesive team.
It seems like common sense that supervisors should not delegate tasks that they are not willing and able to do themselves. However, in today's world where people frequently change jobs, anyone in a supervisory position could benefit by implementing Ms. LaPointe's practical, successful approach.
