I do not own this book, but it is on my wish list and will get it! I saw this at a library and is used as a reading copy only, not as one to get checked out. Why? This is one of the most delicate and beautiful paper cut books I have seen. The work is so delicate it would not last a couple of 'check-outs' at a library. But... The art involved is exquisite. You might think paper-cut art a bit frilly for Little Red Riding Hood (and Hansel and Gretel) but Schenker keeps firm hold of the story's integrity (or should I say inte-gritty!) with her art work. I have seen some illustrated versions of the story which wimp out on the full 'horror' of the tale. Not to say this is gory, it is not. But Schenker stays true to the original tale. Anthea Bell does the translation and Anthea Bell is the best of the best. Bell has done the translations for the Astrix books/graphic novels, for Cornelia Funke and many, many others. She is a remarkable translator and the Grimm Brothers are in very capable hands with her. This book is a must. But it must also be kept from small exploring fingers!
