This new variant on a favorite toy takes the fun of the original Magna Doodle and turns it into a tool for early learning. Like the classic model, this toy has an 11-by-8-inch screen that a child can draw, write, or play games on and then wipe clean with a quick tug of the eraser bar. (As with the original toy, the trick to keeping the board clean and mark-free is to use a light touch with the drawing pen.) But this version comes in the familiar shape of a bright yellow school bus, complete with wheels and a carrying handle. The toy includes three magnetic stampers (a triangle, a square, and a circle) for making patterns. The neatest accessory is a collection of 10 Magic Learning Cards, featuring number, letter, and word recognition exercises, together with simple math problems. A child places the cards on the screen and writes through the slots, then pulls the card off to see the surprise picture that's created. When learning time is over, children can go back to doodling, making this a great toy for both structured and free-form play. Additional sets of cards are available separately. --John Longenbaugh

My son (age 4) received this school bus Magna Doodle for christmas. He learned to write the alphabet, numbers, his name ... He does not get as frustrated with this when his letters "are not good ones" because it is fun for him to erase the "screen" by swiping that lever across the bottom. It is a great dust free alternative to the classic chalk board for learning at home. I think this toy makes a great gift for kids in a very wide age range. Makes learning fun. My daughter is 16 months and loves it too. She plays more with the stamps ( I wish those darn things would stay in their spot better) I really recommend it. As far as durability, well as all toys go, it depends how you play with it . I certainly do not recommend leaving this toy on the floor. If you step on it, or put a lot of weight on it, you could damage it.

I have a 3 year old and a 19 month old, and they both love their MagnaDoodles! My 19 month old loves to draw and color - and this toy has really kept her interest! She even enjoys taking the stampers out and putting them back! My 3 year old is also having a blast with it! She is learning to draw all different kinds of pictures as well as learning her letters and how to spell/write her name. This toy gets my vote when it comes to educational and creative play!

Our daughter recently received one of these for her second birthday and it has quickly become one of her favorite toys. She loves to scribble on paper or on a chalkboard that we have, but now the Magnadoodle is her favorite artistic medium. I think that she loves the erasing feature as much as the drawing part. She really enjoys filling up the screen with doodles, then watching them disappear as she move the eraser control. The stamps are a lot of fun for her too. She has lots of toys that may sit for days without her even touching them. She plays with her Magnadoodle at least once a day. Highly recommended.
