Mirror Man pt. 1 Jack and the General. A piece commissioned by the South Bank for the Disasterdrome event. If you like what David Thomas did with Pere Ubu or with the Pale Boys or indeed on his own then you will love this. Spoken word, song and music combined to take you on a journey through a surreal landscape of the Thomas psyche, an evocation of a Kerouac-like journey through a timeless or perhaps time-free America that exists only in his mind.

If you have ever driven across the United States in search of anything, or anywhere, you will find yourself behind the wheel again when you listen to this performance. Mirror Man shows us the highway as a huge piece of American history that was overlooked. The roads made us who we are, free, and always moving toward something in the distance. If you feel content sitting at home, you may change your mind after hearing the voices and the music on this recording. Keep your eyes on the road. I'm hoping the second act will be released soon!

this is simply brilliant... if you know and like dave thomas or pere ubu you'll love this... a dark trip through america... a tale of the highways... they're all lost.
