5.0 out of 5 stars Great DVD, April 27, 2002
By "ben989" (Ohio United States) - See all my reviews
If you ever wanted to know something about the stooges, it is probably on this DVD. Three Stooges: All Time Favorites comes with:

1. Family Album: A very informative documentary, including rare photos and never before seen footage. Includes all six stooges: Moe, Larry, Curly, Shemp, Joe Besser, and Curly Joe!

2. Jerks of All Trades: The original pilot to the Three Stooges' proposed ABC-TV series, filmed in front of a studio audience on Oct. 12, 1949.

3. Kook's Tour: This rarely seen 1970 film was originally intended to be the pilot episode for a weekly travelogue series featuring Moe, Larry, and Curly Joe. Larry suffered a stroke before shooting was finished, and was unable to continue. It was never broadcast. This is the LAST KNOWN PERFORMANCE of The Three Stooges.

4. The 1998 Three Stooges Convention highlights: Three days of nyuking, woob-woobing, and pie- throwing!!!

I highly reccommend this DVD to anyone who has ever had interest in The Three Stooges. It is very cheap, so I'd buy ths before it goes out of print!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Must For Stooges Fans!, October 29, 2002

This DVD is really good! I was very glad that the lost gem "Kook's Tour" was included here; it was the only Stooges film I hadn't seen, and it was well worth the wait! Anchor Bay did a great job restoring it!

The "Family Album" video gives a more intimate glimpse into the lives of the Stooges, with rare home movies, photos and personal memories; the movie breezes along at a rapid pace (I guess they had to move it along when chronicling a nearly 70-year career!)

This is a definite must for Stooges fans; you'll enjoy it immensely as I did!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good History for Fans, September 14, 2009
By billius j (Ca, USA) - See all my reviews
No, these are not The Shorts. Yes, the title of the DVD is misrepresentative. So, you gotta' learn to read! For what it is, it's indispensable.

The little documentary is nicely done, although the facts are not always correct. It presents an idealized version of their life stories (like Larry having such a perfect marriage, which is FAR from true!). Happily, the home-movies included are the best ones I've ever seen by any celebrity! These guys really knew how to use a movie camera, even back in the 20s; most of the time the camera work is rock solid still, and the picture quality is great! You can see Shemp and Moe at youthful ages, which is very interesting.

"Jerks of All Trades" gives us a good idea about how their act went over on stage (very messy!!), AND it's COMPLETE!

"Kook's Tour" is probably offered in the best reproduction available. I have to agree that it's not really a good film, but it's certainly pleasant enough, and gives us a clear look at the final curtain-call of the Three Stooges, at a time when most of us kids thought they were long-dead!

The Three Stooges Convention video is the only waste of time on this DVD.
