Product Description

Now you can enjoy all your music in any room of your home. Model 88CD is a wonderful compact audio system for use as a second stereo in a bedroom, kitchen, office or den. Gary Krakow from MSNBC says The Model 88CD is sort of an engineering marvel. In 1998 Cambridge SoundWorks introduced the best-sounding table radio ever -- the Model 88 by Henry Kloss. With wide-range sound, a terrific FM tuner, dual audio inputs and a built-in powered subwoofer, Model 88 set new standards of performance in its category. Brian Fenton of Stereo Review called Model 88, the best I've heard. In 2000, the Model 88 got even better. The Model 88CD now comes with a built-in CD player. In the words of company co-founder and designer Henry Kloss, The Model 88CD offers simplicity and elegance in a compact design, combined with useful features and unexcelled sonic quality. The built-in subwoofer adds the warmth and emotional weight to music that only honest bass reproduction can deliver, providing listeners a truly satisfying musical experience. Its auxiliary input can be used to connect a cassette deck, MiniDisc player, MP3 player or a stereo TV. Ivory, also available in Slate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old fashioned quality- hard to beat price, November 6, 2002
By mary jones (Litchfield, CT) - See all my reviews
I love my Model 88 Radio. Before I bought this one, I looked around at the other small, take out of the box, and plug in and play radios. What I found were [inexpensive], plastic radios, that didn't come close to the sound of this one, and some of them cost a lot more $$. A friend of mine from Boston, who knew Cambridge Soundworks products well, recommended this radio over all the others, so I took a chance. When I ordered it, and I took it out of the box, I could not believe 1. how substantial it is - it feels like a well made radio, and 2. the beautiful sound it produces. It actually has a built in subwoofer in it, which makes my blues music sound richer than it ever has on my main stereo. I put my radio in the kitchen, and find that I never really use my old stereo now.
This is a great radio for people who don't have the time to or the care to mess around with setting up a stereo system, or for someone who just wants to add some music to a kitchen, or study. I have a few people on my list that I'm sending this along too, knowing that they will enjoy it as much as I do.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best gifts ever, November 13, 2002
I got my Model 88 last year from my kids- and it has given me many hours of great listening. I put it next to my comfy beat up chair, and its become like an old friend. The sound is fantastic, and it is amazing how much boom and bass this little radio sends. Cambridge knows audio- and happy to see this product. Gives the competition a run for their money.

Henry Kloss was a genius! This is yet another one of his masterpieces. Nothing sounds this good near this price.
