Mayor Giuliani began writing this book before 911, and lived his writing during that traumatic time. This is a superb book for middle managers and senior executives, to fine tune strategies and leadership styles. A must buy!

I read some of the negative reviews before writing this. This book is bad for those looking for specific cookbook recipies on how to lead people. The book does not attempt to placate those with specific political or social agendas.
1) One can not use a cookbook approach to leadership (in busines or otherwise.)
2) One indicator of having made a significant impact is to have some poeple actually pissed off at you. If you try to please everybody you will accomplish nothing.

This book is a great demonstration of application. Giuliani states how he attempted to make an impact, and why he thinks it worked. New York improved under his watch. The changes were significant.

A solid read on the subject of leadership application that anyone can pull from - regardless of politics.

This is a good book, biography. It tends to revolve around the mayor's achievements alone rather than putting more emphasis on team work. There are a few case scenarios given, about difficult situations mayor has to handle, there were no mentioned on the steps taken. That's a disappointment.
Nonetheless, I still have high respect for Giuliani.
Peace to all NYPD, FDNY, and everyone whom lost their loved ones.
