Product Description

Editorial Review

Count on Trivial Pursuit to keep up with new millennium trends. This tremendously popular game has been updated with a fun DVD feature that allows players to view TV clips, songs, commercials, movie scenes, and more tidbits from pop culture. As in the original Trivial Pursuit game, two to four adult players (or teams) pose questions to one another in six categories, in this case TV, Fads, Buzz, Music, Movies, and Sports & Games. As they correctly answer questions, players move around the board, collecting colored wedges. To win a scoring wedge, though, players must answer an on-screen question with a variety of visual cues. So rev up those pop culture engines and get ready to come up with the name of Big Star's first record or the candy Ronald Reagan favored. The game includes game board, DVD, 400 question-and-answer cards, one die, four cute tokens (lava lamp, mixed tape entitled "Awesome Mix/Makeout Tunes," cell phone, and joystick), 30 scoring wedges, and instructions. Note: although the game features over 2,000 new questions, only a few hundred of them are DVD questions, leading to inevitable repetition. --Emilie Coulter

2.0 out of 5 stars Beware!, November 24, 2003

Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
My firends and I are EXTREMELY disappointed with this game. The DVD is basically useless. If Hasbro would have been willing to pay some royalties they could have used actual movie and video clips which would have made this game fun. Instead they use horrible graphics with still photos or Scrabble type words to get you to guess the answer. Meanwhile they flash the answer too quickly for any kind of team play and you cannot pause the DVD at all.

If you still want to buy this, I will sell you mine since I will not be using it again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Faulty DVD, November 19, 2003

My husband and I played this game for the first time this week. We had a couple of problems with the DVD - on some of the questions it seemed to not give enough time to even read the question before the answer was given and at other times - the answer was NEVER given - just popped back to the main screen. I do think the game is a great idea/concept - but the DVD definately needs work.

2.0 out of 5 stars Repetition, Repetition, Repetition, November 18, 2003

The game itself is pretty fun, but the DVD has some problems. We played the game twice and ended up with the same questions popping up on the dvd within the same game. There is only one box of cards to play with and we repeated on these also. Needs more variety, more cards, and a better system with the DVD. The concept is good, just needs some work. I'll stick with Genus IV or 20th Anniversary Edition.
