Product Description

This 5-DVD pack is a treat for anybody who's ever enjoyed the lovable antics of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. THE LAUREL AND HARDY COLLECTION is a remarkably complete look at their lengthy careers. You'll see them in their very first film together, the 1921 silent short, "The Lucky Dog," as well as the classic 1931 sound short, "Be Big." And you'll get three full-length Laurel and Hardy features: "March of the Wooden Soldiers (1934)," "Flying Deuces (1939)," and "Utopia (1950)." And that's not all! You'll also be treated to Stan and Ollie's famous appearance on a 1954 episode of "This is Your Life" and enjoy the original theatrical trailers from many of their funniest films. It's a joy from start to finish!

DVD1 UTOPIA (1950)

DVD 2 FLYING DEUCES (1939)

DVD 3 MARCH OF THE WOODEN SOLDIERS (1934)

DVD 4 1. BE BIG! (1930) 2. THE LUCKY DOG (1921)

DVD 5 1. THIS IS YOUR LIFE (1955) 2. LAUREL & HARDY AT THE MOVIES (2003)

Currently available through amazon.co.uk is a 21 DVD set of Laurel And Hardy - remastered with oodles of extras including colorized versions and running 3 hours or more for each DVD. Why isn't the collection (or a comparable one) available here?

1.0 out of 5 stars Not their best, August 25, 2003
By sawdust (Elgin, Illinois) - See all my reviews
Laurel and Hardy at their best are great. At their worst they're terrible. These movies are as bad as it gets. Judging their comedy by these flicks is unfair to them, so don't be fooled. Don't buy these. Hold out their best stuff, the 2-reelers from the early 30's, not their full-length movies. The only feature-length films worthy of their best are "Sons of the Desert," (arguably the funniest movie ever made) and, possibly, "Way out West." Unfortunately, the best 2-reelers are still not available on DVD, and difficult to find even on VHS. All of their avilable silent movies have been released, and are worth the money. Does anyone know why it's taking so long for those great talkie 2-reelers (1929-1933) to be released on DVD?
