Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Touted as the world’s fastest cork remover on the QVC Shopping Network, the Insta-Pull is also the cheapest of the lever-style wine openers. However, the low price doesn’t reflect the high quality of this corkscrew: The Insta-pull has all-metal gears and an ergonomically designed non-slip polycarbon handle and received an "Excellent" rating by a top consumer magazine. To use the Insta-pull, crank the lever back to set the gear. Next, place the cork remover over your wine bottle and crank the lever up and down a few times to insert the screw or "worm" into the cork. The last step requires you to simply flip the handle up and back to remove your cork. Another crank of the lever while holding the grips together resets the gears and a final upward pull releases the cork from the Insta-pull. This cork remover is an excellent buy for wine lovers who desire a quality engineered product at a low price. The Insta-pull comes with a bonus foil cutter and additional worm and is covered by a limited 90-day warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

2.0 out of 5 stars Glad I didn't pay list price..., November 17, 2003
By C. Komora (FL United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I just got this from Amazon at $14.99. I thought it sounded like a great deal, considering the list price of $49.99. It seemed a little flimsy (handles were a little thin on the plastic)and opening bottle was awkward on first attempt, but on the second attempt it worked like a charm. However, the third bottle of wine I opened, a handle fell off and pieces went flying. I was able to piece it back together, but not sure for how long that will last. I'm just glad I got it for myself instead of as a gift...Not exactly a sturdy gadget.

1.0 out of 5 stars fatal problems, September 16, 2005
I bought this particular lever corkscrew because I read a very favorable review in Consumer Reports. It is all metal which is necessary because the lever action actually puts a lot of stress on the gears, the guide and the frame. After about 50 bottles the pin in the guide started wearing and the screw no longer entered the cork along the axis of the device making it harder and harder to use. I actually fixed this a couple of times but then the frame actually broke at its thinnest point.

End of story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still working like a charm!, December 3, 2003
By A Customer
I bought this for my mom for her birthday. We had the same experience as the previous reviewer with a slightly awkward first attempt ... but the second opened "like a charm," and so did the third, and the fourth, and all the others since then. This wine opener is very solidly made, and does its job beautifully. Plus, whenever the "worm" wears out, it will be very easy to replace it with another one.

This is a really great gadget, and makes opening any bottle of wine easy and really kind of fun! I'm going to give more of them as gifts, and have requested one for myself!
