5.0 out of 5 stars Very readable and entertaining and has insight into the early 60s politics of the anti-communist fanatics. the Iranian war touch, August 6, 2008
Wow, a good read. Unfortunately, it could have happened and maybe still is going to happen. A Military coup in the USA? Such a idea maybe foreign to minds indoctrinated to believe in the War on Terror. But what if a true "liberal" ever got to be elected (Carter and Clinton don't qualify)?

Some things seemed a bit overdramaticized and kept simple for the reader but the authors based it on contemporary politics of the time...the huge push back by conservatives that wanted war with the USSR because they knew they could win...(with only a few million casualties they said. Based on JFK's era anticommunist fanatics who backed Barry Goldwater's bid to the White House...and their descendants are still pushing for War with Iran..) How appropriate that the authors thought up a war with Iran (instead of VietnamWar) to give a futuristic feel.

Didn't put the book down until it was done. So why has this book been obscured and out of print?
