Smooth 9.1HR-disaster, March 14, 2006

I purchased this treadmill in February of 2004, and it has been sitting in my bedroom in pieces now since December 2005 - todays date is March 14th, 2006. The 1st problem I had was the hydraulic motor leaked fluid on my carpet, and one of the rollers had a bad bearing. This was repaired after a couple of months as it took that long to reach someone at Smooth to repair, get parts, and get someone out to fix it.
In December of last year, the electronic board went out. It's now been sitting in my bedroom for nearly 4 months, waiting for a new board. The repair team at Smooth can only inform me, when I can get in touch with them, which is an issue in itself, that those boards are on backorder, and they have no idea when they will be available. So, in 2 years, it's been broken down, unusable, waiting for repairs for a total of 5 months.

It's The Treadmill For Me!, October 27, 2003

My favorite activity is running outdoors! That works out great during the warmer months. However, I¡¦m a very cold-natured kind of girl. Now that autumn is here and the temperature has begun to drop, I've moved my workouts indoors! (I refuse to run outdoors when it's cold!) Until this year, I always made an effort to make it to my neighborhood gym to run on its indoor track during the cold months. However, with another winter on the way, I decided to do things differently this season! I decided to invest in a good treadmill for my home! All the treadmills I saw at retails stores seemed cheap and of inferior quality. I found the treadmill I chose online. And, I feel confident that I made a very good choice! The treadmill that I found most appealing was the Smooth 9.15 folding treadmill! This one costs a little more than some other treadmills on the market. But, I feel that it's worth the extra expense! After all, you get what you pay for! Look at all the great features of the Smooth 9.15 treadmill:
1) a free wireless heart rate control, complete with a belt and transmitter...great for getting the most out of your workout (the HR control adjusts the intensity of workouts according to the user's heart rate)!
2) a hand grip pulse monitor
3) a nice size running surface...20" X 54"
4) a nice size motor that should be adequate...2.75 HP
5) A nice size, easy to read console...displays speed, distance, time, pace, calories burned, pulse rate
6) one-button start electronics...easy to use
7) 1/4 mile track display...easy to read...shows progress report
8) very solid and sturdy 260 lbs. of machine
9) excellent warranties...i.e. 10 year motor warranty, lifetime frame warranty, 5 year warranty on belt, deck, and rollers. And there is a one year in home warranty for any repairs.
10) power folds with the push of a button and has large casters that make it easy to move the treadmill from one place to another I've had my treadmill only a few weeks. However, I've put it to the test several times already, and it has definitely passed each time! I even asked my 6' 2", 215 pound brother to give it a try to see how well the 9.15 would hold out. Incredibly, the treadmill ran just as smoothly and quietly as it does when I'm using it! It appears to be suitable for both walking and running! The only complaint that I have so far is that the "free shipping" covers delivery only to your door. To have the unit carried inside costs extra! I knew that I couldn't carry it, and I didn't want to rely on friends or family to help me (they're all quite busy people). So, I paid the extra charge. All-in-all, it was worth it! And, Smooth Fitness did a fantastic job of getting my new 9.15 treadmill delivered to me right on time! After a few weeks of working out hard on my new Smooth 9.15 treadmill, I can honestly say that I'm very satisfied with my selection. However, if any problems arise with this machine, I'll get back to you!

Smooth Fitness 9.17 Treadmill - Terrible Service Dept, October 7, 2006

I recently purchased the treadmill and within a week I had to call in for 2 service repairs. The first was the handle bar rubber had 4 tears in it. They came 3 days after my call and repaired it. Then the next day my incline was not working properly. Made another call to the service department, even left emails on the problem. Three days later, I finally get a call and explain to the service technician the problem. He tells me he tried figuring out what kind of problem I had with the incline and informed me that since his machine had no problem he doesn't see any problems with mine. That was th most ridiculous response I've ever heard. He said he would send a repair man over and the service dept will contact me shortly to make an appointment. Three days later no call until I have to hound the sales area, returns area, and numerous messages to the service department. Finally get a call from the service technician and again had to explain my problem to them. He said he would check it out on his machine and call me back. Guess what?? No calls back yet. And why would he have to check out the problem on his machine when it's really my machine with the problem??
I rate this company as unreliable and unhelpful. Be wary when buying a machine from this company. Yes, their treadmill is good, when it works properly.
Oh...and if you throw out the box, forget about thinking of returning it. They will not budge even though they claim they have a great 30 days return policy.
I'm not a happy customer right now and will not recommend buying a treadmill from Smooth Fitness.
