Satisfaction, February 10, 2005
Well as you can see all the reviews are 4 stars or better! I've been a fan of Shadow since like 98 or 99, i'll try to give an objective review! This item is well worth the money for Shadow fans or trip-hop fans or DJ fans! I highly suggest you check out any single song by Shadow before you buy this item, his music is not very conventional to any genre...even trip-hop which doesn't really have a standard sound! If you like a song, you'll like them all and this product!
The DVD's main show is like an hour and half long live performance by Shadow! Its a cross section of every one of his albums, but songs mixed with each other in amazing combinations! With on-stage visuals (most are cued to the music) which are often editted to show on your screen clearly! You also get some other bonus performances of Shadow with Numark and Cut Chemist (I think) which is interesting!
The CD is a shortened version of the same main performance on the DVD! I like this because i'd want to listen to it without a dvd player!
This dvd/cd set is a really great reward for any of his fans in that you get to hear everything mixed in new ways while actually seeing how he does his thing! (Example: he blends What Does Your Soul Look Like 2 with Bloodstain) Then there's also the on-stage and on-screen visuals! Just in case anybody is worried about the sound quality, being that this is video of a live performance, fear not! The sound quality on the DVD and on the CD sounds as clear as studio production!
As far as mildly interested people that aren't really fans of Shadow, I suggest you get any one of Shadow's albums or DL a song or two so you know what the music sounds like! Its not really conventional to any genre!
*if my use of exclamation points makes this review seem less sincere, i apologize! please re-read and substitute periods for the exclamation points! Or for an entirely new spin on it, try using question marks at the end of each sentence! it really sounds less sincere that way!

Watch it Non-stop..., September 13, 2004
You Wouldnt think that watching a Dj would be entertaining, but Dj shadows Performance captured "In Tune and on Time" Is amazing. The energy from the crowd is like no other, the images go all too well with the music and he the disks special features are as well entertaining, (there is actually a hidden section on some of the making of music videos)AND on TOP of that, DVD is accompanied by a audio cd of the perfomance. In my opinion, Shadow is one of the most talented artists to hit the scene. This is a must have item just like anything else shadow is involved with.

This is the best of Dj Shadow, January 3, 2005
Alright, Shadow may be a bit of an acquired taste, but this set is essential to anyone even remotely interested in hip-hop, breaks, basslines, or beats. In Tune and On Time is basically Dj Shadow's resume, because it includes the gist of most of his best material. 90% of the tracks are only 2-3 minutes in length, some of which are condensed from 10-14 minutes, originally. So, any repetition or slowness in the music is streamlined and eliminated. Not only that, but Shadow has mixed and matched to create a performance-in 5 acts-that maintains a flow so constant that it all feels like one, 2 hour track.
For those of you who own most of Shadow's material and are wondering if it is worth it, let me guarantee you that In Tune and On Time is like a whole 'nother album. Josh has taken the opportunity to add and subtract from ALL the material included in this set, injecting brand new samples and innovations so subtly and completely that they become new pieces altogether, the highlights of which are acts two, four, and five, which include versions of Blood on the Motorway and Napalm Brain/Scatter Brain that shatter all his previous productions. In Tune and On Time is a masterpiece because it rewards even more on repeated listens, where you can pick apart the layers and grow a whole new respect for the music. If you want to hear Dj Shadow at his best, this is all you need.
