The Coby DVD-527 super-slim DVD player features progressive scan for HD-capable televisions. The silver finish and slim design means it will fit right in with your existing home entertainment system. The DVD-527 plays DVD, CD, CD-R/RW, and MP3-formatted discs. Features include multiple viewing angles, an onscreen display, zoom, and parental lock. It also comes with a full feature remote control.

The DVD-527 is Dolby Digital 5.1-channel ready, which means it's capable of playing DVDs in five channels and one subwoofer and gives you greater clarity from the center channel and improved separation of music from dialog.

Audio connections include 5.1 Dolby Digital out, coaxial and optical digital out, and analog audio out. Component video out (for progressive scan), RCA out, and S-video out make up the video outputs.

I had already two of these, both exhibited problems immediately or within a few weeks. The warranty sucks: If you are lucky enough that it breaks within the short 90 day warranty period then you still have to send it in to Coby and pre-pay shipping for both ways. We watched a movie yesterday and the picture started freezing up half-way through the movie. We have not been able to watch an entire movie yet with either of the two Coby DVD-527's we had.
I bought it because the specs looked great, plays international movies (PAL and SECAM), 110 and 220V compatible etc. But for twenty dollars more you will get a DVD player that has all of this and actually works.

Stalls movies intermittenly. Cannot play my foreign dvd. Makes some noise.
Picture quality and optical output are good when it works, of course.
