5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing for sore and tender gums, February 21, 2009
oh man, i couldn't live without this stuff. I have been using it for about 8 years now and I have found nothing else nearly as effective for all around gum health.
i have two fake front teeth and often my gums around them get inflamed and really tender....when i use ipsab it calms them and soothes them within moments of using it. And when i use it regularly (like i should), my whole mouth feels 100% healthier and my gums grow to be healthy and strong. This is an amazing formula for all around dental health and I highly recommend it to anyone with sore, tender, or receding gums. Speaking of which, I also use it on my side teeth, because I tend to brush too hard which causes the gums to recede somewhat and that makes the side teeth more sensitive -- but yet again, when I use Ipsab regularly it really helps to heal the gums and eliminate that problem.
I have noticed that it also tends to keep my breath fresher overall when i use it regularly.
If you have a sensitivity to iodine however, you may want to be careful in using it because it contains a small amount of iodine.

Also, I received a request for more information on my review of this same product (different size) and here is the answers to the questions I was asked:

>does it work like a mouthwash?
Heritage makes a mouthwash called Ipsadent which is nearly the same formula in a mouthwash. But yes, you can use this as a mouthwash, but I would dilute it if I were you.

>How does it taste?
hmmm...well, I have gotten used to it, and although it is not your typical mainstream jolly minty chemically overwhelming sweet flavor, it does have a minty taste. But it does take a little bit of getting used to. I personally do not use it as a mouthwash because of the flavor, I prefer it for spot treatments on my gums. I think, but am not sure, that the iodine in it makes for the slightly odd flavor--but that is pure speculation on my part.

>Does it work for mouth sores like canker sores?
I have used it to soothe mouth sores...especially when I have bitten my cheek really badly and it gets inflamed and I keep biting it repeatedly...this definitely helps calm all that down.

>Does it have an ingredient that deadens pain?
I looked up the ingredients on the manufacturer's website and I do not know if any of those ingredients are specifically pain relievers. But, as I said, I have used it in the case of really sore bitten cheeks and mouth ulcers and it does soothe and cool immediately.
