Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description
The T-Series puts strategic advantage into the hands of professionals for whom every thought, action and piece of equipment can be critical to the mission. That's why police and military professionals around the world rely on Inova flashlights to get the job done.

The Inova T4 offers major benefits over competing rechargeables because it provides up to two times the burn time (as much as two hours of constant uniform light output) and recharges in about a quarter of the time. The T4 can be recharged any time, without waiting for the battery to be fully discharged--and the battery can be recharged hundreds of times. The 125-Lumen LED source is effective up to 300 feet--visibly illuminating objects at football-field distances.

This advanced light comes in a sturdy, aircraft-grade aluminum body that's machined from solid bar stock (not extruded tubing), with a military-grade Type III anodized hard-coat head. It boasts a mid-body switch that's located for optimal control.

The T4's lifetime LED bulbs are virtually indestructible, and the light's power regulation offers constant, uniform light output brightness over battery life. Includes charger cradle plus power supplies for AC and DC charging.

What's in the Box
T4 flashlight, rechargeable battery, charging cradle, AC power adapter, and DC vehicle power adapter.

From the Manufacturer
The Inova T4 is the perfect example of leading-edge technology and welcome convenience in a rechargeable best-in-class LED flashlight. The most advanced lithium ion rechargeable available today, it combines durability, compact size and confident handling with lower battery replacement costs. The T4 projects a uniform light up to 300 feet for up to two hours. Its battery can be recharged hundreds of times and without being fully discharged. A three-way, mid-body switch enables responsive activation, tactical control and balanced handling. With a 175 Lumen LED, it delivers more lumens than the previous model. It is crushproof up to 2,000 pounds, scratch and water resistant. Professionals find the T4 fully up to the most rigorous testing situations.

2.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy, obsolete technology at a rip-off price, December 9, 2008
The Inova T4 is part of a group of rechargeable Li-ion flashlights that appeared before standard rechargeable Li-ion cells became widely available, and therefore it uses a PROPRIETARY battery, which costs 3 to 4 times more than a 18650 cell (the reference for modern flashlights). The T4 also is inferior because of the fact it does not use a reflector, but instead has a sort of Fresnel lens in front of the emitter. The beam is very uneven, marred by several rings, and the throw is also sub-par.
The Streamlight Strion belongs to the same group, but it is even more obsolete for using an incandescent bulb rather than a low-consumption LED.
Another major handicap of those early-day Li-ion flashlights compared to more recent ones is that their crude circuitry does not allow to have a variable output, and also it does not provide a low-battery warning: when the voltage in the cell goes below a certain threshold, the protection mechanism simply shuts down, meaning you are left in the dark on your own. Instead, modern LED lights will allow you hours of emergency light by going in a low-power mode. Some, like the Fenix, will warn you of a low-battery situation through a pulsating beam.

I bought a T4 when it came out (around 2005), and when the battery died on me less than a year later I switched to more modern, Chinese-made flashlights (yes, China today leads the market for high-powered LED flashlights and rechargeable Li-ion cells).

Unless you want to spend top dollars for a Surefire (not worth it in my opinion), the best brands of flashlights today are Fenix, JetBeam and Wolf Eyes. All use the latest LEDs (mostly from Cree), and most offer several choices of off-the-shelf battery power, rechargeable or not.

The state of the art should be: Cree Q5 or R2 (newest version yet) and a tube that accepts a 18650 rechargeable cell (it will then be able to hold 2 CR123 batteries, rechargeable or not). Tenergy batteries and chargers are excellent.
The whole package should cost around 100$ and you will get 220-250 Lumens out of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Light!, February 8, 2008
First, for those who have had an issue charging the light and got the flashing blue light when on the charger, the problem is most likely a bad electrical connection. Unscrew the battery end and clean the silver colored, unanodized, end of the cap to remove any grease that is hindering an electrical connection. The cap is part of the electrical system and any grease between the cap and the body of the light will mess with the connection. Also, clean the charging contacts on the light with a pencil eraser (just rub it like you are erasing)...This will clean off any gunk that could be messing with the connection. I've had charging issues and this is all it takes to correct them.

With all that said, I love this light. Constant output for 2 hours, unlike Mag and Streamligh lights that dim after a few minutes and continued to yellow out. This is a pure while light, with no artifacts in the beam....meaning its a nice even illumination tool. It's not cheap, but you are paying for quality. I have used mine for about 6 months, in rain, fog, complete darkness, indoors, outdoors.....and it just performs without question. You can not go wrong with it.

Lastly, if you are going to buy the T4, buy the new version that Inova is releasing this spring of '08. The output went up from 125 lumens to 175 lumens.....for those not familiar with light ratings, it is one heck of an increase! Try it and you will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great light, June 2, 2007
By T.H. (California) - See all my reviews
A great light. It can go a good while in between charges. It is so bright that you can not look directly at the bulb when lit. It does a good job of lighting up the darkness as well. It's compact shape and weight are perfect and it is the perfect size to fit in a sap pocket. The head of the light protrudes out of the sap pocket perfectly so no other holder is needed. Good duty light.
