Ergonomic Disaster, April 3, 2006
I bought this in white - it is a thing of beauty, that is, until one must use it. First, it weighs a bunch, and unless you are blessed with open counterspace (no cupboards), it is a bear to drag around - it would help if it had wheels. Secondly, the vertical LCD clock is nearly impossible to see, unless it is at eye level and under very bright light; thirdly, the water and coffee are added through the same opening, with the water at the rear - try not spilling water on the counter or in the coffee filter. The instructions implore one to unplug the unit after every use, and reminds that it is necessary to reprogram before the next use (I don't think so!). The coffee pot must be perfectly aligned to get it into the opening, and the cover is not easily removable; instructions further state that the pot should not be cleaned in a dishwasher (nor should the filter basket). For a hundred bucks, it doesn't even come with a water filter, complimentary paper filters, or a "gold" filter. This thing will probably last forever (except the pot - it will need replacing, peridically, and at great expense), which is a shame, because I just might use it as a boat anchor before it wears out. The coffee it makes is OK, on a par with my $15.95 Proctor-Silex (same comany! How did they screw this thing up so badly?). Save yourself $70 or $80 and get one which is cleanable in a dishwasher, and doesn't need a second mortgage to replace the pot.

Great at first, but then..., November 29, 2006
We have had this product for just over one year and we really, really liked it - until recently. There are a couple of real problems with this design..
1 - The burner plate has a slight gap between the plate and the base of the unit. If water gets in there is causes a short and the burner stays on regardless of the switch being on or not. This is a real fire hazard and also hassle to live with. The only work around is to make sure that the pot is bone dry on the outside before you place it back on the burner.
2 - Electronics are housed right in the path of hot steam venting upward. This will eventually lead to corrosion in the controls. First the LCD display starts to go and this is quickly followed by all functionality.
Too bad. We really liked this coffee maker for the first year or so, but when it starts to go south on you it goes down hill super fast. It is not a permanent resident of the nearest landfill just about 18 months after purchasing it.

I love this coffee pot..., August 11, 2008
I LOVE this color "Sea breeze" it is my favorite color and I would buy everything in my kitchen in this color if I could, but they discontinued this color...
I had this coffee pot for about a year and the warming plate died! However there is a three year warranty on this item and all I had to do is call the company and give them my model # and presto a brand new one was sent to me hardly no questions asked.. The replacement one seems to make hotter coffee than the one that broke even when it was at its best.
I have never had a coffee pot that lasted a really long time so I guess I would LOVE To NEVER have to replace this because I love it so much... but I know that things now a days do not seem built to last... I hope my replacement lasts.. I guess with everything its a gamble...
Update: Had replacement less than 6months and now the replacement will not turn off, the hot plate is on even when you turn the power button off and I have to unplug it or its on all day.. I love the color so I decided to keep this one and hope that my only problem will be this.. I wish it was better made because I love the look of it so much.
