5.0 out of 5 stars What a pleasant surprise!, October 4, 2007

I was looking for a fuzzy logic rice cooker that wouldn't break the bank. For the price this is an incredible deal. Our family uses this cooker for rice about twice a week. The rice is never dry or hard, but perfect every time. I have even put rice already cooked back into the cooker to reheat and it stays perfect.
I have been using rice cookers for over twenty years and the fuzzy logic does really make a difference.

3.0 out of 5 stars Elite Fuzzy Logic Rice Cooker, June 20, 2008

This seems to be an adequate rice cooker. However, the manual is quite unclear and inadequate. It doesn't specify that the rice cooker will shut off automatically when the water is used up from the cooking process. I had to call customer service. They didn't know how to use it either. Once I figured it out, the rice was fine. I use brown rice, so it took all of the 55 minutes allotted for rice. It would be nice if this had a timer to allow a little more time for wild rice.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do NOT buy this product, May 21, 2008

Do NOT buy this product. We wanted to upgrade our old cooker (which was a bit too drippy) and did so on the basis of the 3 good reviews available here at the time. I can't really imagine how these reviews can be of the same product. First of all, the user manual is too brief and especially unclear - it doesn't even have directions for different rice types or water quantities! Also, please note that there is only ONE rice cooking program, despite all the "fuzzy logic" talk. It always takes 55 minutes (you can't manually set the cooking time) no matter what type of rice or how much you use! Even my old, simpler cooker could tell when to stop - this one can't. We cook mostly brown rice, which takes more water, and by the end of our inaugural 55 minutes the rice was floating on a pond of excess water. My old cooker would have continued until the water were gone - this one can only think in a 55-minute world. The opening at the top kept bubbling throughout the process, although it seemed rather tidy and not an issue. It was only when removing the cooker to repack it and return it that the last great surprise came: around the back of the cooker, the tabletop was SOAKED in the starchy liquid that came out from the cooker from who-knows-where. So despite the sealed look of it, stuff comes out like crazy if you prefer to use more water than the cooker thinks reasonable. I don't know what would happen if one used less water than the ideal for a 55-minute run, but I won't try. The cooker allegedly does porridge and steaming, if you care.
