Product Description

From the Manufacturer

You are invited to a very special world inhabited by little, amazing creatures called Norns. Male or female, each is unique and has its own individual personality. The Norns come with their own biochemistry, brain, DNA, personality, and a rich environment in which to live.

Features:

  • For boys and girls ages five and up
  • Hatch your first baby Norn in the Nestery
  • Feed and care for your creatures
  • Watch them grow, fall in love, and have babies
  • Begin to explore the giant and colorful village world with them
  • Norns live on your computer--they need to sleep, play, and eat
  • Environments feature changing seasons and weather
  • Introduces notions of genetics, biology, and ecosystem
  • Combines Creatures Playground and Creatures Adventures
Your own virtual pets

Creatures: Village is a different kind of game. Your creatures live in a colorful and fanciful world that includes 15 exciting themed play areas with lots of activities and fun things to do. But this is only one aspect of the game. The coolest aspect is that you really get to raise your own virtual life pet(s). Once they (your Norns) hatch from an egg, you will need to take care of your new friend, give him a name, feed him when he is hungry, give him medicine when he is sick, make sure he is wearing warmer clothes when it snows, etc.

If you play for a while you will see your creature grow in front of your eyes. If you have hatched a second egg, once the two creatures become adults, they may fall in love, kiss, and reproduce. A new baby will be born with its own characteristics, part his mother, part his father. The creatures are not pre-programmed. They make their own choices and learn from their mistakes. You guide them around their world and experience it with them, helping them to learn.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kid Friendly Game with Lots of Playability, November 27, 2005
By Tiffany (Massachusetts) - See all my reviews
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I just picked up this game the other day and my 5 year old started playing it right away. She has been addicted ever since. I got bored with it rather quickly, but I had to remember that my boredom is not what determines whether this is a good game or not. My daughter finds the game very easy to manuver and loves all of the different activities she can do with her Norns.

One thing that would make the game a little easier would have been having the manual in print, or accessable while playing the game. There are some things that happen to the Norns that you don't know how to react to, like a thermometer appears next to your Norn and they turn green. Well you know they are sick, but don't know the process to make them better. So I had to exit the game to read the manual that comes on the disk to see how to care for sick Norns. Overall, the directions are easy to follow, but they could be easier to access.

Overall, this is a good game with what appears to be lots of long-term playability.

4.0 out of 5 stars good KIDS game, April 27, 2006
By C. Hammond (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I'm well over the recommended age and I LOVE Creatures III... so when I saw this one, I snapped it up thinking I would love it too. I was wrong. This one is TRUELY geared towards younger kids.

HOWEVER, that said, it's a neat game for kids with lots to see and do. The controls are simple. I didn't give it 5 stars because it is SO simple... the graphics arent the greatest and it would be nice if it did a little more. You don't have the breeding options or the machines that make the other Creatues games so much fun... which lends to it's simplicity but at the same time, makes the game seem like it's missing something. All in all, a great kids game and worth the buy.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's okay, but, August 19, 2008
By Jo (Utah, USA) - See all my reviews
my six-year old child got bored with it very, very quickly. I agree that part of the problem is the lack of directions or even hints in the game itself. We couldn't figure out what needed to be done and my kids didn't want to wait around while I read the directions. And one of the creatures always looks angry so my six-year old spent a lot of time trying to make it happy and she couldn't. Other than that, the controls are pretty easy, and my kids liked it for a bit. But I wouldn't buy it again.
